We are looking for a part-time engineer to work with our hard driving, talented engineering staff. This position is ideal for an imaginative, motivated junior or senior level engineering student.The position will assist SPS development team by generating 3D models of design concepts and cataloging designs in existing parts databases. Other responsibilities will include:
Assist staff engineers in performing tests and reporting results in an engineering format;
Assist staff engineers in fabricating test hardware and measurement setups;
Solder electronic components;
Required Skills and Experience:
Education: A minimum 2-years of engineering study in mechanical engineering or other relevant engineering field.
Must be able to perform basis research to source parts/pieces/information;
Basic soldering ability - soldering of simple electronic components by copying existing boards;
Ability to translate written and/or verbal design ideas to Solid Works 3D model;
High functioning ability with 3D design software (SolidWorks preferred);
Experience with parts data base systems is a plus;
Understanding of basic mechanical testing such as uniaxial tensile, 3 & 4 point bending, etc?
Understanding of stress/strain relationships, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, mechanical vibrations;
Experience with machine tools such as mills, lathes, brill presses, saws;
Education: A minimum 2-years of engineering study in mechanical engineering or other relevant engineering field.
Compensation: Hourly rate based on experience.
