Engineering Manager Vesta

Description:This position has responsibility for managing engineering team members and for project allocation and assignment.
Duties:
Management of engineering team members including 1:1's, training opportunities, coaching, rules enforcement, and career guidance
Management administrative duties including
PTO tracking, annual reviews, and project tracking.
Recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence
Provides dimensional estimates (DIM) to assist in project planning and provides engineering resources for projects
Assist TIM's by providing technical and/or resource management guidance
Assist in the investigation of production engineering service issues
Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for engineering/technical work.
Help to promote support documentation and training guidelines using the Vesta wiki
Help to promote code best practices and standardized unit testing (TDD)
Coordinate with remote/off-shore on training and project delivery issues
Help set technical goals and initiatives within outlines provided by the Director of Engineering
Travel to assist in mentoring, training, and team-building with remote/off-shore teams
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field; an equivalent combination of college, industry training, and experience may substitute
Overall Experience: 10 years or equivalent experience in the IT industry
Minimum of 3 years project lead experience with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects for Fortune 500 customers
Minimum of 1 year of experience working with Java & J2EE technologies
Detailed knowledge of Internet technologies, thorough understanding of eCommerce, IVR?s, Web Integration and Security
Experience with multi-tier development
Must possess excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
Must be enthusiastic, action oriented, capable of independently solving both technical and people problems
Must have experience working in organizations where the entire software development cycle from inception to delivery is measured in weeks. The ability to multi-task and react quickly to business needs is required
Must be willing to travel on occasion

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRABLE BUT NOT REQUIRED:
Experience with MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Power Point, etc., etc
Databases (Transact SQL 2000, 2005, and 2008, Windows authentication mode, management studio or enterprise manager, and modeling)
Payments industry experience a plus
Familiarity with Agile development processes a plus
