About the Job
We are currently seeking a Engineering Manager IV that will be responsible for managing all of the company?s engineering activities. Reporting to the Vice President as a key member of a dynamic management team, the Engineering Manager IV will be responsible for the structuring and operations of the engineering organization as an effective and cohesive unit to meet evolving business needs. The Engineering Manager IV will ensure the conceptualization and day-to-day management of simultaneous projects: the delivery of services within time and budget constraints, and the fostering of innovative solutions to customer needs.
This position requires no relocation and can be based in any of Nexant?s 21 US offices. Internal candidates will be expected to work from their current office location.
Duties and Responsibilities
Management of staff resources to maintain and improve DM revenue/margin expectations
o Conduct a staffing level action plan using available tools for your area of responsibility on bi-weekly basis that fulfills workload requirements for a 3-month planning horizon.
o Achieve designated Corporate Utilization levels for entire function.
o Develop, receive approval, and deploy recommendations to improve organizational efficiencies for operational cost and corporate utilization.
o Manage budgets for the engineering function
Cost effectively deliver and improve on existing contract commitments
o Manage teams of engineering managers and staff to support internal and external clients? projects
o Develop procedures to ensure engineering products are at high quality and completed within scope and budget. Report key performance metrics using available tools on a montly basis.
o Serve as primary contact for Nexant clients to maintain customer satisfaction of engineering work products and subject matter expertise.
o Develop and manage continuous improvement processes (QA/QC, Technical Working Group) to improve performance of the engineering functional group and reduce program savings acquisition costs.
o Comply with SSAE "Technical Services" owned controls compliance in all audited programs
Support client retention, offering development and business development activities
o Lead account/client management responsibilities as designated by manager.
o Support business development as a subject matter expert on department services and develop staff to support similar activities.
o Collaborate with other functional organizations to retain 2014 client contract revenue
Maximize value of company investments in employee initiatives
o Adhere to ICS performance development process for individual and for team
Bachelor?s, master?s, or doctoral degree in mechanical engineering, sustainable building practices, or similar.
10+ years of experience in engineering and management roles.
P.E. certification is required, or on path to achieve it.
In-depth understanding of energy engineering principles and practices.
Superior writing, interpersonal, and analytical skills; proficient at scoping projects, writing proposals, and managing staff and clients.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Proven ability to plan and execute complex projects to meet deadlines and budgets.
Proven project delivery and management skills.
Strong leadership in a team environment; ability to lead multiple teams to reach department goals.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement short-term and long-term departmental goals.
