Engineering Manager: Seller Experience Etsy
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Brooklyn, NY, United States
The Engineering Manager will work with the Seller Experience team to ship products that help start, grow and develop our sellers? creative businesses.
Etsy is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Seller Experience team. With over a million shops selling on Etsy, the Seller Experience team strives to build powerful and elegant tools that power creative businesses from around the globe. You should be comfortable with all facets of a product facing engineering team. This is a full-time position in Brooklyn, NY.
About the Team
Here at Etsy, we believe that code is craft, good software and systems designs are works of art, and that the work we do is part of larger creative culture represented by the hundreds of thousands of inspired artists and designers who make Etsy such a wondrous marketplace. We believe that small, empowered, self-motivated teams can do big things. Our goal as a group is to holistically rethink the selling experience on Etsy, not only to simplify and enhance what exists today, but to prepare our platform to gracefully evolve in the future.
About the Job
The sellers who use Etsy are inspired. So inspired, in fact, many of them have built a business on their creativity. Our mission as the Seller Experience team is to craft an experience so tight that our sellers can focus on what they love most: making. As an Engineering Manager on the Seller Experience team, you will manage the engineering side of a highly collaborative, cross-functional product development team.
Manage the career development of a team of highly collaborative product engineers
Work closely with product managers, designers, user research, and other parts of the Etsy organization to help determine the scope and roadmap of your team?s project
Contribute to technical discussions within your team to help increase the efficiency, stability, deliverability, and maintainability of everything your team produces
Participate in the greater company discussions to help set the direction for Etsy?s engineering team
As an Engineering Manager on the Seller Experience team, you are an extremely organized person who understands the product development process from end-to-end. You understand the technical problems your team is wrangling, and provide the leadership, enthusiasm, vision, and guidance to help your team grow and build successful products. You believe in the Etsy?s vision of a human-driven economy, and are passionate about making our sellers more productive, successful, and happy.
You will be successful in this role if you:
Understand and enjoy the challenges in launching products.
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Understand the importance of cross team and cross org collaboration.
Have a knack for organization and breaking down large problems into smaller ones.
Are as excited by the challenges of nurturing a team as you are by the technical challenges of building a product.
Help those around you grow as developers and be successful.
Enjoy learning about and interacting with the people who use your product.
If you're interested in joining the team, please send us your resume. You won?t be surprised to hear, though, that we won?t consider it without a cover letter. Let us know how you fit the bill for each of our requirements above. Etsy is a place that values individuality and variety, so use your judgment and write to us in your own voice. If you have a presence on the web that we can easily access (Github, Twitter, Facebook, rap sheet), contribute to an open source project, write a blog, or practice another craft besides building beautiful, functional websites, that means something to us, we?d love to hear about it.
From our HQ in Brooklyn, NY, to our offices around the world, we make it possible for people everywhere to buy and sell unique goods. Community is in Etsy?s DNA, and being connected, a code we live by.
At Etsy, you can do the work you love, be yourself, and take fun seriously. Your teammates become teachers, sharing their skills at Etsy School. Competitive benefits, balanced working hours, and eco-friendly offices are engineered for human beings (not human doings). And everyone?s invited to break bread and make new friends at Eatsy, our locally-sourced communal lunch.
Etsy is the marketplace we make together.
