Engineering Team Lead - Server APRIVA

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the daily technical activities for an engineering team creating and supporting products on commercial backoffice platforms. Includes interaction within Engineering and with Management to provide realistic product delivery schedules, design and develop product content, and achieve specific delivery time and quality goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Lead the architecture, design and development of new and existing product deliverables with minimal oversight and according to established engineering practices.
Contribute as a leader to improved technical discipline, structure and efficiency of the engineering organization.
Interact with company clients and business partners to complete joint engineering efforts and support deployed products.
Organize, maintain, and report engineering project and team status to management.
Work with management on dynamic items or priority issues.
Work with product test team and product support for problem analysis and resolution.


Participate in and contribute to a team environment.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a US citizen in good standing and capable of obtaining a US government security clearance.
BS degree with 8+ years experience or 10+ years equivalent experience in the software industry, with 2 or more of those years in a formal technical lead position in an engineering organization.
Demonstrable track record of leading a successful team within a fast-paced product development environment.
Self-motivated, with the discipline to follow and enforce commonly accepted engineering principles and practices.
Capable of original thinking to provide direction for and resolution of technical issues as they relate to business goals.
Capable of taking ownership of existing software designs and implementations.
Strong and effective oral and written communications skills in a variety of formats and situations.


Strong and effective interpersonal skills within a diverse group of clients and staff as a leader and team member.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated experience in the creation and modification of software architectures, designs, and implementations for scalable backoffice systems.
Significant development experience with C++ and Java in complex software systems, in Windows and Linux environments.
Significant development experience with web service based technologies such as Ruby/Rails, Groovy/Grails, JavaServer Faces, Java PrimeFaces, Struts, or JavaScript.
Development experience with database technologies such as SQL Server or MySQL.
Understanding of performance-oriented software design and development.
Development experience within software development and maintenance processes.
Experience with version control systems such as Subversion or ClearCase.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Background in backoffice systems using technologies such as Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol), and OCSP (Online Certificate Status Protocol).
Understanding of public key infrastructure and encryption technologies.
Understanding of high assurance architectures in scalability, redundancy, and failover configurations.
