Enterprise Software User Interaction Designer - San Francisco MuleSoft

MuleSoft seeks a part-time, project-oriented user interaction designer with experience in technical software products whose users may include software developers, IT operations staff, and technical business analysts.
The Interaction Designer will support MuleSoft's product teams in interface design and user experience, including Eclipse-based development tools and web-based consoles for IT operations. Simplicity is the hallmark of MuleSoft's products, so we are looking for an Interaction Designer with a deep passion for creating product interfaces that drive user productivity through the elegance of the user experience. The candidate should be able to effectively balance multiple priorities and deliverables, answering to multiple demanding stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be laser-focused on driving usability, but must also posses the technical acumen to work with a strong development team and have the confidence to drive their UI recommendations.
Responsibilities
The Interaction Designer will support the MuleSoft product team in these areas:
User persona and requirements development

• Understand and drive user interfaces for multiple user personas (e.g., IT administrators, developers, IT executives, non-technical personnel) across different platforms (e.g., web-based interfaces, developer IDE tools, etc.)
• Work with product teams to understand UI requirements and gathering additional data (e.g., end user research)
• Identify objective (data-driven) ways of evaluating various UI choices, and work with multiple stakeholders toward the optimal solution

User interface (UI) creation

• Create compelling UI mock-ups, balancing company strategic objectives, user-oriented research, and technical realities
• Create developer UI guides and templates to ensure consistent implementation of UI designs
• Work closely with product management and marketing to drive visual design
• Perform usability testing on the product, measure effectiveness, and drive improvements

Desired Experience

• Domain experience in enterprise software aimed at technical audiences (developers, IT operations, etc.) is a must
• Experience with Eclipse-based development tools is a plus
• Prefer experience working with Java, JavaScript, and other enterprise technologies
