Acting as part of a small team, the role of Enterprise WLAN Product Line Manager (PLM) is responsible for the product planning and execution at various stages in the product lifecycle. These include: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements; defining new features and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing and support to achieve executive buy-in for a product; and then be the champion to ensure the product is launched and supported across the company. The role includes significant field sales and customer interaction. Additionally, the PLM is responsible for understanding their markets, assessing competitive strategies, and identifying key requirements required for successful penetration into new markets and vertical customer segments. The successful PLM will be able to synthesize complex technical and market issues, develop solutions for those challenges and gain acceptance and commitment from others to solve identified challenges.
The PLM is expected to:
Take overall feature specification & implementation responsibility for assigned products
Deliver MRDs and PRDs with prioritized features and corresponding justification
Recommend list pricing, with accompanying competitive and margin analysis
Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples
Lead/drive product positioning, go-to-market activities, and sales training
Be an expert with respect to the competition
Act as a leader within the company
Required experience and knowledge:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technology company, ideally with exposure to product or technical marketing
2+ years of experience in a job in the wireless market including proven experience and knowledge in the WLAN market and technology.
Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products
Demonstrated experience defining wireless software features
Excellent written, oral presentation skills
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
Bachelor?s degree, with an advanced technical or business degree desirable.
Technical background, with experience in networking, wireless preferred
Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
Proven ability to work in a fast-changing environment
