The primary responsibility of the EHS Manager is the implementation and administration of an effective EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) program that ensures a safe work environment for employees, contractors, vendors, and visitors. The EHS Manager has responsibility for maintaining regulatory compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environment, industrial hygiene, and occupational health and safety regulations.
Responsible for ensuring all EHS program manuals, policies and procedures are in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations and permitting requirements related to environmental, health, and safety.
Responsible for insuring all provisions of the TAS EHS Program are consistently implemented and enforced.
Heads the Safety Committee and maintains all records associated with committee meetings.
Serve as the primary interface with OSHA, and state and local agencies for all compliance and enforcement actions.
Serve as the Emergency Response Coordinator for TAS and is responsible for the overall management of the Emergency Response and Contingency Plan.
Responsible for ensuring site security thru installation and maintenance of alarms and surveillance systems, as well as the provision and management of appropriate security personnel.
Stay abreast of existing and proposed laws, regulations, standards, and regulatory guidance (and proposed changes) to assess applicability, advise management on the implications, and update the TAS EHS Program to ensure continued compliance.
Perform periodic risk assessments and industrial hygiene assessments, conduct regular safety inspections and audits, and take appropriate corrective action based on the results of these assessments.
Conduct evaluations of new and modified jobs and processes and update the EHS Program, policies, or procedures accordingly to control or eliminate hazards.
Investigate and document work-related accidents, incidents, and near misses, and ensure corrective and preventive measures are implemented in a timely manner to prevent reoccurrence.
Ensure Field Service and Project Management personnel are adequately trained and have the appropriate tools and resources to ensure TAS EHS Program requirements are consistently applied at all field job sites. Periodically audit field sites for compliance.
Responsible for development and delivery of effective safety training programs for managers, supervisors, and employees to ensure a safe work environment and compliance with all applicable OSHA standards and requirements, as well as all provisions of the TAS EHS Program.
Conduct EHS orientation training for all new hires.
Develop and maintain safety and environmental performance metrics, statistics, records, injury reporting, and record keeping systems in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
Ensures timely and accurate preparation and submission of all required government safety and environmental reports, records, permits and related fees.
Publish environmental, health and safety data for posting and distribution.
Maintains all OSHA logs and required recordkeeping.
Manages hazardous waste program and maintains required documentation.
Ensure all subcontractors adhere to TAS safety program requirements.
Support sales department on the EHS component of RFP?s and sales contracts.
Interface with customers for vendor safety qualification and reporting as required by sales contracts.
Perform other related duties as required.
Five (5) plus years of experience managing EHS programs in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of requirements of 29 CFR 1910 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards)
Strong coaching, training and motivational skills; the ability to lead a team
The ability to clearly conveying information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message
Experience developing and using collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals without formal authority
The ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities
The ability to set high standards of performance for self and others
Must be versed in the use of basic Microsoft office tools ? Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
Three years of experience in delivering safety training
Four year college degree
Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
CSP Certification (Certified Safety Professional)
OSHA Certification per CFR 1910
OSHA General Industry 30 hour training course completion
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Primarily performed in a sitting position 75% of the time, and then standing & walking for the remaining 25%. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, stooping, crouching, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
