The Project Planner/Scheduler is responsible for the creation and life-cycle maintenance of accurate, comprehensive, resource-loaded project schedules in a multi-project environment. They are also responsible for the reporting of schedule metrics and in supporting the Project Manager(s) and the Business Processes in determining the health of the Project(s).
Provide life-cycle management of the project schedule, from conception in the sales/applications phase through the customer hand over
Work with sales/applications engineering to create the sales-phase schedule, used for the purposes of bidding, negotiating and contract creation
At sales turnover to the project team, develop the comprehensive project-level baseline schedule to be used for control of the project
With input from the project team, perform weekly updates to the schedule
Identify and highlight to the Project Team:
Key project milestones
Project resource requirements
?Look-aheads? on upcoming due project tasks
Critical path activities
Assist and provide input to weekly project meetings with representatives from manufacturing, engineering, operations, project management, and purchasing
The Project Schedules in this environment typically have a strong Engineering Schedule component
Work in concert with Engineering to ensure that relevant engineering requirements are incorporated into the schedule
Ensure that weekly updates from Engineering are incorporated into the schedule
Modify and communicate schedule changes required to meet unforeseen conditions and expedite Engineering to meet shipping and/or start-up and commissioning requirements
The project schedulers in this environment typically have a strong operations schedule component
Establish sequence and lead-time of preparation of products to meet finished goods inventory requirements and shipping dates
Confer with the operations department supervisors to determine status of ongoing production requirements and assigned projects
Prepare production reports and graphs necessary for weekly project meetings
Ensure that weekly updates from operations are incorporated into the schedule modify and communicate schedule changes required to meet unforeseen conditions and expedite operations to meet shipping and/or start-up and commissioning requirements
The project schedules in this environment sometimes have a customer (field) service component
Work in concert with customer service to create and maintain a start-up and commissioning schedule
Ensure that weekly updates from customer service are incorporated in the schedule
Develop and report to the business, key project metrics showing the health of the project(s)
Ability to create comprehensive, resource-loaded schedules from start to finish in a dynamic manufacturing environment
Possess mechanical engineering knowledge or other technical knowledge to be able to translate engineering and construction requirements into the schedule
Advanced knowledge and understanding of flow manufacturing, manufacturing processes, manufacturing methods and procedures
Ability to translate general scheduling methodologies from manufacturing and other areas into an EPC Project environment
Strong knowledge of Primavera P6 software
Intermediate to Advanced MS skills: specifically in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio
Minimum 5 years project scheduling experience in a manufacturing and/or project environment
Previous experience in working with Logistics, Purchasing, Engineering and Manufacturing/Operations
HVAC, Power Generation, or Central Refrigeration Plant experience
PMP or CAPM certification, a plus
Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical or industrial engineering
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, stooping, crouching, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
