Overview of Position
Crystal IS Inc. has developed new materials that can be used to create high performance Ultraviolet Light Emitting Diodes (UV-LEDs). Our unique technology allows us to produce UV-LEDs with unsurpassed performance within the optimum wavelength range for germicidal disinfection. Commercially viable UV-LEDs will open new markets in water disinfection and bring a safe, environmentally friendly source of water to more people. Since its recent acquisition by Asahi Kasei, we are accelerating our plans to bring this technology to market by 2014. The company is actively seeking to hire an Equipment & Facilities Engineer to join our team.
The individual will be a key member of our team focused on the support of our facilities and process equipment that is used in our UV-LED product offerings. In order to be successful in this position the candidate should be a resourceful, self-motivated, hands-on, problem solver with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of challenges within a deadline-oriented atmosphere. The single most important "deliverable" of this role is to keep the infrastructure and key equipment in the facility operating with minimal downtime. The candidate will also need to actively manage communication between the various groups at Crystal IS. The position will report to the Vice President of Engineering.
The near term focus will be on the establishment and implementation of preventative maintenance (PM) procedures on key pieces of equipment within our bulk Crystal Growth area.
Ensure that all critical mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems are performing as specified.
Oversight of equipment and facilities related projects including the coordination and scheduling of construction, renovation projects, and Preventative/Emergency maintenance events, as needed.
Perform and/or schedule routine maintenance tasks such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, generator/UPS, alarm monitoring, etc.
Ensure that Preventative/Emergency maintenance events are coordinated with operations teams.
Maintain all facility areas in a safe manner and report and/or correct any unsafe conditions to ensure employee safety.
Coordination with, and oversight of, onsite vendors including Security, Housekeeping and Property Management staff.
Participate in budget preparation, coordinating purchasing and documentation, and ensuring that contractors provide parts/services consistent with Crystal IS requirements.
"Hands on" individual with good interpersonal skills, detail-oriented, ability to communicate effectively, self-starter, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
Knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC and building management systems required.
Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs strongly desired.
Five (5) years of building and/or equipment maintenance experience.
Strong organizational, administrative, record keeping and time management skills.
Available after hours for facility and/or equipment emergencies.
