Equipment Development Technician
The Equipment Development Technician will assist in the installation, design and optimization of new
and existing prototype material and assembly processes. The Equipment Development Technician
will be responsible for initial operation of all piloting equipment. During this initial trial period,
they will be responsible for maintaining neat and orderly notes and data on all new processes and
effectively communicate to the information to engineering.
The Equipment Development Technician will work under the Process Development and Equipment
Utilization Manager and work with Manufacturing, Technical Engineering, Maintenance, R&D and
Facilities to achieve objectives as a team member and individual technical contributor.
Essential Job Functions:
? Assist the installation and development of Piloting scale chemical and mixing production
processes in conjunction with prototype and lab processes.
? Assist in the assembly and development of new product designs and processes.
? Interface with other R&D and ETO staff to understand at a relevant and fundamental level,
materials phenomena, properties, performance ranges as they relate to performance targets.
? Generate simple reports detailing pertinent results
? Execute controlled experiments to address yield, quality and equipment issues.
? Support established manufacturing and piloting processes and equipment.
? Support the establishment and documentation of Piloting methods, processes, equipment and
? Demonstrate safety leadership in day to day activities
? Participate in equipment audits
? Assist in the creation of Equipment Parts list for both the initial installation and on going
maintenance of the equipment.
? Assist as necessary in implementing environmental improvement initiatives
? Educate and train new operators and technicians to facilitate understanding of new or modified
processes and/or equipment.
? Operate heavy equipment (forklifts, overhead cranes, and man lifts) to aid in the installation
and removal of Pilot Process Equipment.
? Maintain equipment logs to ensure proper upkeep and change history of pilot process
? All other duties as assigned
? Associates Degree with 3-5 years of experience in a pilot, R&D or manufacturing environment.
o Experience/Certification in the any of the trades (Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC,etc) will
also be considered
? Ability to effectively use and follow assembly drawings, bills of material, inspection
procedures, and test procedures as required.
? Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to assist in the solving of complex
? Ability to work in an ever-
changing environment with multiple processes.
? Ability to read electrical and
mechanical schematics to build electrical and mechanical hardware
? Good verbal, written, computer and organizational skills.
? Ability to use various hand and power tools
? Strong attention to detail and deadline oriented.
? Must be able to lift 50lbs. Ability to operate a forklift a plus
? Experience using Microsoft Office, and Google Drive a plus
? Ability to weld (mig, tig, stick) a plus
? Experience with Serial, MODBUS, LabView, PLCs a plus
