The Liquidnet Private Shares Group brings efficiencies and scale of Liquidnet?s global institutional network to the fast-growing market in private-company shares trading. Trading in the shares of private and pre-IPO companies has expanded rapidly in recent years, highlighted by interest in such Internet-leaders including Facebook, Twitter, and LivingSocial.
The Liquidnet Private Shares team works with the largest institutional investors around the world seeking access to high-growth opportunities, with private company shareholders seeking to get liquidity for all or part of their shares, and with private companies themselves to set up programs for the orderly transfers of equity stakes.
The Research division of the group brings deep expertise in companies which are born out of the transformational social media and mobile revolutions, which complements the group?s expertise in the facilitation of private share sales.
Responsibilities
Perform research on market trends and the competitive landscape, research and analyze companies in the Social Media/Internet sector.
Produce bi-weekly research report and other documentation containing expert analysis and guidance on the private shares space.
Evaluate statistical and financial data, create and maintain financial models.
Build and manage research database.
Work closely with compliance to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
Work with management to define private shares strategy.
Supervise the Junior Research Analyst.
Skills/Requirements
Bachelor?s Degree or equivalent in Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
2-5 years? corporate finance/investment banking experience and/or experience in an equity research, sales or trading role.
Series 7 (or 17, 37, 38) and Series 86 and 87 are required.
Must have prior research experience within the social media/internet space.
Proficiency in creating financial models.
Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills.
Excellent verbal and written (composition and editorial) communication skills with a proven foundation in presenting succinct viewpoints and recommendations.
Working knowledge of markets and the macro-economy; ability to thoughtfully articulate major market dynamics that affect the private shares landscape.
Must possess knowledge and an appreciation of the due diligence process.
Must be an avid user of social media.
