ETL Engineer NameMedia

Job Description:

NameMedia is building a brand new BI platform which includes a data warehouse, analytic and reporting systems. The data volumes are high and the functionality requirements are complex. The tools/technologies used are mostly from the open source domain.

The person in this role will be involved in building and supporting ETL for the new BI platform, and addressing other data processing needs across the organization. Hadoop and related technologies are being used for high volume data processing, and this person will be involved in that also.

Required skills:

Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
ETL tool experience for minimum of 2 years, preferably on Pentaho Data Integration (Kettle)
Data warehouse related ETL development experience
Database performance tuning experience as related to ETL (data loading, data extraction, query tuning)
Scripting experience on a Linux platform (any of shell/python/perl/ruby)
Understanding of data modeling (esp. star schemas) to be able to interpret data models
Independent, self-motivated worker with great problem solving skills



Desired skills (not a must):

Hadoop experience with writing MapReduce programs using a scripting language or Java
SQL Server database experience, BI platform experience would be a plus
MySQL experience for extraction (the source databases are MySQL)
OLAP tool experience (SSAS/Spotfire/Tableau etc.)
Ability to work with open source tools without dependence on commercial support
Big Data experience
