The Director, Corporate Controller at Aegerion will have overall responsibility for: (i) the development of accounting policies and procedures, the establishment/maintenance of internal controls/processes and maintenance of SOX compliance programs and oversight of the relationship with McGladrey (ii) expansion of ERP/global financial accounting systems, and the consolidation of worldwide monthly financial results, including revenue recognition, inventory reporting, intercompany and foreign currency transactions (iii) internal and external (SEC) financial reporting and regulatory compliance with reporting/accounting regulations, (iv) equity transactions, FAS123R accounting, option tracking and reporting, (v) management/supervision of the accounting department staff (5 professionals + 3 open positions in 2013), (vi) financial compliance with contractual obligations, including royalty accounting and reporting, debt covenants, government compliance reporting, and implementation of systems to track same, (vii) management of the external audit and tax relationship with Ernst & Young, including the coordination and preparation of tax reports to government agencies and (viii) other special projects as assigned.
Provides timely and accurate monthly executive financial package to CEO/CFO/President and quarterly financial statements for board.
Manages the accounting function, including staff of 5 in Cambridge, MA location, plus 3 budgeted 2013 FTE?s including a Latin American Controller. Individual must control the monthly close process to achieve rigorous internal/external deadlines and have a keen understanding of the business and operations to produce accurate reporting results. Individual is primarily responsible for reporting in compliance with SEC regulations.
Responsible for oversight of the ongoing administration of stock options tracking software and the reporting of equity transactions and FAS123(R) results in compliance with GAAP.
Responsible for overseeing a system of control for the tracking and accounting of all corporate contracts and ensuring that the system of control is adequate to ensure that all corporate contracts are accounted for in the periods required.
Responsible for maintenance of accounting and control procedures. Responsible for the external audit relationship and the satisfactory completion of a timely 2013 audit and quarterly reviews.
In collaboration with the CFO, responsible for tax reporting in all jurisdictions and the coordination of same through outside contractors (note: Director of Tax position budgeted to be hired in 2013).
Responsible for special projects as assigned from time-to-time compatible with background, experience and individual/corporate objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
The individual will have an education and background in accounting including 3-5 years of public accounting experience.
CPA required, MBA a plus.
Individual must have 7- 10 years of experience in financial reporting for a post- SOX era public company.
Global, commercial biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry experience is strongly preferred.
Experience with a revenue generating company and the consolidation of foreign operations is a must.
Prior experience in SAP ERP system implementation a significant plus.
Candidate must have very strong analytical, supervisory and technical accounting capabilities and strong current references.
