Summary of Functions:
The Executive Director/VP of Corporate Strategy works closely with the enterprise and business unit leadership of New Breed to chart the strategic agenda for growth. The team evaluates market and business trends and opportunities and identifies strategies that can help the Company achieve its aspirations. The Market and Competitive Intelligence function provides the insights on the market, customers and competitors that form the foundation of this decision making. The team is responsible for strategic data and information, trend and scenario analysis, and other business analytics in support of strategic planning and execution. The Director role is to work with senior management to support strategic planning activities by providing actionable recommendations based on assessments of existing and potential markets and competitors.
Identifying and collecting appropriate customer, competitor, market, economic, financial, and/or operational data.
Performing financial, statistical and qualitative data analysis of markets and competitors including model development and evaluation.
Translating data into executable and effective market and competitive intelligence reports.
Profiles the overall market and competitive environment, providing insights that support strategic decision making and for use in internal and external presentations by the Company?s executives.
Creates and updates comprehensive industry, competitor and key customer models including, but not limited to, total and outsourced market, market share, growth projections and trends, market drivers and resistors.
Performs thorough, systematic analysis of key industry trends, technology developments, the general social, economic and political environment, legal and regulatory issues, customers, suppliers, and current and potential competitors.
Creates and maintains comprehensive profiles for current and potential competitors, including modeling of financial data. Identifies current and potential competitors to the Company globally, and develops an in-depth understanding of competitors? activities, alliances and partnerships, providing an early warning capability regarding threats and opportunities to the Company.
Provides competitive insights through presentations and reports to executives, various internal committees and management teams, to allow effective strategic and tactical decision-making and implementation.
Supplies the market and competitive intelligence component of Strategic Plans, Market Entry Plans as necessary, and proactively makes recommendations to management concerning key intelligence items that require further consideration.
Identifies and engages relevant and reliable sources of market and competitive intelligence inputs including third party and internal data. Maintains up to date knowledge of data sources, evaluating their credibility and potential utility, and leveraging across the company where appropriate.
Develops relationships with key internal/external customers to identify emerging needs and business challenges.
Works with internal business customers to enhance their use of strategic analysis, market and competitive intelligence, and ensures that the appropriate communication channels are maintained. Collaborates internally to ensure intelligence is shared with appropriate groups and individuals.
Maintains an in-depth knowledge of designated markets and trends through reading reports, market research, data manipulation and financial modeling and analysis.
Creates and presents value-added insights and solutions to meet business needs.
Supports the implementation of strategic analysis projects and business plans - designing and managing the scope of work, objectives, quality of deliverables and activities on projects and delivering assigned activities.
Attends various trade and professional events as required. Provides post-event intelligence debriefings to the work team.
Contributes to the ongoing development of the department: proactively contributes to the knowledge base of the department, maintains and shares knowledge of current trends and developments, actively and effectively supports professional development of team members/direct reports (where appropriate).
Ensures the department meets established goals and objectives.
Bachelors Degree in finance, marketing, or a related field. An MBA would be preferred.
A minimum of 5-10 years relevant business experience in management consulting, market and competitive intelligence, corporate strategy, marketing or finance, or other comparable combination of education, training and experience.
Experience with market and competitive intelligence in a public market environment is a plus.
Strong financial and analytical skills. Familiarity with utilizing statistics in a business setting is a plus.
Strong customer focus and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects under deadline constraints.
An affinity for and demonstrated ability in strategic or competitive intelligence and analytics.
Ability to network effectively at all levels and influence without direct management oversight.
Demonstrated strength in problem-solving, analytics and capable of driving insight to action.
Ability to articulate with strong presentation skills, excellent written communication abilities and contribute to executive-level discourse.
Orientation towards constantly seeking new knowledge; a quick study on new topics.
Positive approach to quality of work.
Able to operate within an open team environment.
High level of competence with Microsoft Office suite (in particular, advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills) is essential.
