Founded in 1914, R.J. O'Brien ("RJO") is a privately owned Futures Commission Merchant. RJO is one of the oldest and well-known, independent futures brokerage firms in the industry and is a founding member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. RJO is also a full clearing member of the Chicago Board of Trade, New York Mercantile Exchange, Commodity Exchange of New York, and the New York Board of Trade.
RJO offers the latest in order entry technology coupled with 24-hour execution and clearing on every futures exchange worldwide. RJO services a nationwide network of over 200 introducing brokers as well as some of the world's largest financial, industrial and agricultural institutions.
Responsibilities
Serving as leader to the Commercial Business Group the incumbent will report to the Chief Executive Officer and be a close working partner to members of the senior management team. He or she will have overall responsibility for this division.
The broad scope of oversight will include responsibilities in the following areas:
Sets the goals and priorities for division's growth and monitor and report progress to senior management. Communicate the vision of the company and the division.
Responsible for business development with a focus on international and domestic sales
Develop strategic projects around divisional sales pipeline
Plan, develop, and implement strategies for generating resources and/or revenues for the division.
Evaluate performance of team for compliance with established policies and objectives of the company and division and contributions in attaining objectives.
Oversee divisional operations to insure production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be a mature, strategic, and seasoned executive.
This individual must be able to quickly develop an understanding of the organization's operational characteristics, business drivers and culture.
The individual should also be an inspiring leader and thought partner to the CEO and the Executive Team as well as an independent and creative business thinker who possesses a high degree of integrity.
Must have a proven track record in successfully recruiting institutional futures brokers and supporting their sales efforts.
Must possess experience with a focus in commodity products including agricultural products, energy products and metals products.
Must have experience in bi-lateral transactions and on exchange cleared products (Clearport).
Strong candidates should have an undergraduate degree and preferred MBA followed by at least 10-15 years of experience.
Financial services experience is required.
The individual will have ideally served as a strong leader and business enabler as part of an executive team.
Series 3 Registered
Extensive knowledge of futures & options business required.
Commercial hedging knowledge required.
