Regional Sales Manager - Federal
Proofpoint is an innovative security-as-a-service vendor that delivers data protection solutions that help organizations protect their data from attack and enable them to effectively meet complex and evolving regulatory compliance and data governance mandates.
Proofpoint is looking for a self-starting, results-driven, and highly motivated Federal Sales Account Managers with a solid understanding of selling into the Federal Civilian Government and/or Defense Sector, Federal partner/reseller and System Integrator community. The ideal candidate can successfully orchestrate all available resources to achieve the required sales outcome. Proven ability to interface at C-level to technician-level customers and establish a trusted advisor status within their territory. Candidate must have a consistent track record of exceeding sales goals and corporate objectives.
The successful candidate will possess strong business acumen, ability to build a strong business pipeline, deliver sales presentations with customer impact, accurately forecast, and have strong interpersonal skills.
Detailed responsibilities include: .
Submit quarterly and monthly forecast commits and deliver against these commits and associated goals
Prepare responses to customer proposals, build quotes, and develop targeted account plans
Convert prospects into sales by differentiating from the competition
Partner with sales engineers to deliver Proofpoint?s value
Develop a go-to-market strategy with channel partners and leverage their demand generation
Prepare activity and forecast reports as requested
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Proofpoint?s competitive positioning in the marketplace
Meet or exceed revenue quota
Based in the DC Metro area (Virginia, DC, Maryland)
5+ years successful field sales experience within the Federal market
BA/BS or equivalent preferred
Background in security solution selling
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to clearly and effectively articulate Proofpoint?s value
Must be organized, detail and process oriented
Track record of working closely with customers to produce solutions that exceed their business expectations in a rapidly evolving technology domain
Ability to manage multiple tasks and use good judgment in resolving difficult issues
Broad understanding of the government acquisition process, specifically the government's IT acquisition process
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, web conferencing tools, and salesforce.com
Travel both locally and nationally for Trade Shows, customer visits and Headquarters visits. 25%
Excellent balance of strategic and tactical skills
Existing relationships within the Federal Government and its industry partners
