Gevo, Inc. is an exciting, team-oriented company that is pioneering the advanced green energy industry.
We are looking for a Fermentation Technician, based in Englewood, Colorado. The Fermentation
Technician will prepare media, set up, operate, clean and maintain fermentation and recovery equipment
at the bench and pilot plant scale, collect and record experiment samples, perform sample assays,
perform data analysis and reporting, and maintain supply stocks. The individual will be required to work
periodically at a commercial plant location outside Colorado, as well as be able to work day or night
shifts
Requirements include:
? An Associate or Bachelors degree in microbiology or biological sciences with experience in general
microbiology practices and fermentation is desired.
? Candidates are required to have a minimum of 1 year experience.
? Demonstrated mechanical ability.
? Attention to detail, ability to follow recipes using metric and English measuring units.
? Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts and techniques.
? Excellent communication, able to work and think independently, and be a team player willing to work
overtime on occasion.
? Shift work and travel is required for this position.
? Proven self-starter; must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
? Preparing and delivering information in a concise, accurate and professionally written format
? Preparing and presenting information in an informal setting
? Working in a team oriented environment
? Analyzing and developing solutions to problems
? Developing and maintaining positive customer rapport
? Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office products
? Self starter, able to identify errors or areas for improvement, provide recommendations and follow

? Ability to lift 15 ? 25 pounds
Responsibilities include:
? Equipment and glassware cleaning, assembly and sterilization of laboratory equipment
? Media preparation, filtration and/or in situ sterilization
? Operation of bench and pilot plant fermentors and supporting equipment systems
? Equipment maintenance
? Execution of experiment and sampling protocols
? Perform basic fermentation assays
? Write and maintain Standard Operation Procedures
? Document experimental runs by maintaining accurate and thorough lab notebook documentation
? Write technical reports
? Stock and order as necessary
