The Opportunity
Do you enjoy teaching people and helping them solve their problems? Do you like traveling? In this position, you will provide on-site applications support, installation and troubleshooting, and will assist our sales representatives with seminars and technical demonstrations. As a member of our field applications team, you will build upon our reputation for strong customer support. You will support our XF family of products, and other planned products for pharmaceutical and academic customers. You will build relationships with customers and support our current suite of applications related to metabolism, energy expenditure, cancer, cell signaling, and toxicity.
The position will be home-based in San Diego, but a training period will be required which will take place at customer sites and our corporate headquarters in Billerica, MA.
Requirements
Familiarity with the drug discovery process, as well as drug screening technologies, including low to medium throughput secondary screening technologies used in drug discovery today is required. A Ph.D. is preferred, but an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Three years experience using and developing cell-based assays is required, preferably in a drug discovery environment.
Summary of Responsibilities
Your primary role will be to support customers as they apply our 24 and 96 well-based XF technologies to their drug discovery or research programs. This will require knowledge of both XF technology, and associated biology.
You will also:
Support other instrument platforms that are under development through prototype and beta phases
Support introductory seminars, training courses, and demonstrations of the technology at customer sites
As part of a multidisciplinary, international team of scientists and engineers, you are a connection between R&D, sales, support staff and our customers. Your presentation skills as well as your familiarity with the drug discovery industry (technical and peer reviewed literature) will be critical
Participate in new product development and research opportunities, seek out and analyze competitive scientific knowledge from external sources, advise supervisors and colleagues, work with R&D, sales & marketing and investigate collaborative opportunities. Strong candidates will demonstrate an ability to prepare reports and make scientific presentations at customer sites and international meetings. Heavy travel, primarily to customer sites, is required. You will also occasionally have opportunities to travel outside of your territory. This position reports to the Director of Customer Support.
