The Field Engineer is responsible for installation of ENA network equipment on customer?s premise. This position is also responsible for determining root problem cause and providing resolution to ENA?s customers. Extensive travel will be required within the geographic area listed below.
The primary responsibilities of this job are to:
Create, update and maintain accurate site documentation.
Document problem resolution on internal ticketing system.
Travel to customer locations, install, troubleshoot and support inside wiring from Telco?s Demarc to access router. Troubleshoot network hardware problems, utilize network analyzers, and test equipment.
Perform ?on-call? duties as required, responding to all call outs within a specified area. Ensure 24x7x365 availability for customer?s mission critical network services.
Test and repair equipment returned from field
Assist on projects, interface with other groups, and participate in customer events.
Maintain accurate inventory counts for all items currently in possession.
The qualified candidate will have 2-3 years experience required for providing technical customer support involving IP network components (gateways, routers, switches, etc..), TCP/UDP/IP. A strong knowledge of Ethernet communications, Layer 2 switching, and routing protocols is required. Must have a firm grasp on low voltage cabling and understand wiring terminations (RJ11, RJ45, cat5e, cat6, 66 blocks). Knowledge of VOIP and WiFi design, installation and troubleshooting is a plus. Knowledge of fiber optics termination types will also be a benefit (ST, SC, LC, Single mode, Multi-mode). Primary job functions require exercising independent judgment, problem solving, responsiveness to customer calls, clear communications via telephone and in person.
This position will require extensive travel ? currently limited to the state of Idaho with some travel to Tennessee for training. Some overnight stays will be required. A valid driver?s license is required and the candidate?s driving record must enable them to be eligible for coverage under ENA?s liability policy. Candidate must be able to maintain a home office. Candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule and pass a background check and drug screening.
