Field Service Technician Aircuity
Reports To: Field Service Manager
Aircuity, Inc., a fast growing technology leader in commercial building energy efficiency solutions has an
immediate opening for a talented Customer Support Associate having the experience and desire to work
in a hands-on fashion. This position will play an active role in supporting the doubling of our business in each
of the next several years.
Aircuity is a leader in providing technology enabled commercial building energy efficiency. With the rising
cost of energy and growing environmental concerns regarding greenhouse gas emissions, commercial
building owners are challenged to find reliable technology solutions to help ensure that their buildings
operate as energy efficiently and environmentally responsible as possible without sacrificing occupant
comfort, productivity or safety. Aircuity has combined an advanced building sensing technology with web
based building performance data acquisition & analysis to provide a building energy and environment
information platform capable of supporting an array of energy performance solutions and services.
The ideal Field Service Technician will provide all levels of technical support for layout, start up, field
commissioning, service, and training of our intelligent air monitoring systems that assesses building
ventilation and communicates with building controls. Aircuity is looking for a highly motivated and
technically skilled individual who enjoys working with electronic systems involving network technology and
building controls, is able to coordinate with all aspects of jobsite activities, and is willing to travel
domestically and internationally 50%-70% of the time, mostly home on weekends.
Essential Job Functions-
? Work closely with the factory to perform coordination and execution of new product releases , as
well as, a project layout review, start up, commissioning, and service portions of the product
? Breadth of field work involved including:
o Define and configure networked hardware components via our software commissioning tools
and network protocol analyzer tools such as Wireshark and ANT;
o Troubleshoot and correct wiring mistakes and omissions created during installation;
o Review mechanical drawings to verify correct implementation of design considerations;
o Conduct remote conferences to achieve project success as necessary;
o Troubleshoot and validate the operation of our systems locally and remotely via remote
desktop or TeamViewer;
o Coordinate and manage the trades and all associated documentation surrounding the project
? Serve as a factory liaison to address field problems as they arise;
? Contribute to the development of field related documentation, including installation, operation,
maintenance, and startup manuals;
? At times, support the technical issues and concerns that arise from customer calls received by our
Customer Support Center.
? Work with team members setting up and managing all aspects of training; including
documentation, instructing, and scheduling for a week long training class for (8) or more
technicians from Rep organizations (6) or more times a year.

Preparation, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
? 1-3 years of field service experience supporting networked electronic systems involving instrumentation or controls;
? Minimum of Associates degree in engineering or the sciences;
? Basic skills and/or experience in troubleshooting analog and digital electronics, computers, and
? Able and willing to travel internationally and domestically 50-70 % of the time;
? Direct experience with RS485 supporting various common network protocols, as well as other
exposure to Building Management and HVAC systems is a plus;
? Effectively and proactively work directly with customers and Rep organizations without direct

o Working with general hand tools (wire strippers, screwdrivers, etc), DVM?s, making wiring

o Experience working with contractors representing electrical and mechanical trades at job sites,
and proven track record of obtaining results from these parties;
o Experience with Microsoft Office products and Windows XP/7 environments and other basic
computer skills. Experience with TCP/IP and additional IT experience is a plus;
o Exposure to sensor technologies commonly used in HVAC systems (temperature, RH, CO2, CO)

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
o Normal office environment.
o Sitting, standing, and/or kneeling for extended periods of time may be required.
o When on jobsites, the field service technician may be responsible for hauling tools and
equipment (including large items such as 10? ladders) around the site and up/down stairwells.
o Must be able to lift 50 lbs overhead.
o All hazards of mechanical spaces, new construction, and massive renovations exist.
o Work is performed on ladders. Often this work is performed overhead above ceilings where
space is limited.
o Able to deal with and/or defuse emotionally escalated conversations or situations.
