BigMachines is actively searching for a Financial Analyst to play a crucial role on our finance team at our headquarters in Deerfield. If you have superior analytical and finance skills, are extremely bright and talented, and are someone who knows how to get things done, then this role is for you. Reporting to the COO/CFO, you will play a critical part in forecasting and budgeting, managing and implementing strategic growth initiatives, and putting processes in place to turn our small finance department into a world-class operation. This is a truly cross-functional role that will work with the senior leaders of every business unit in the company.
The perfect fit is someone who has 2-5 years of either accounting, finance, or consulting experience and is looking to learn the ins and outs of how a high growth business operates and scales. Duties
Being responsible for forecasting and budgeting team headcount, salaries, and expenditures
Analyzing and researching key business drivers and business results. Proactively formulating recommendations on where the company should invest capital
Reporting on results of operations for the company. Preparing financial presentations to the Board of Directors and other key audiences
Developing and executing various reports and analysis for multiple teams across the organization
Propagating robust understanding of cost structure across all parts of the business so as to contribute to profit-enhancing business decisions
Working with team leaders to understand and analyzing their individual team performance compared to their budget
Driving sharing of best analytical practices across operating units (e.g., around business cases for new initiatives)
Driving and executing strategic growth initiatives for the finance team
Performing month end close and accrual analysis
Adhering to all BigMachines security policies, standards and procedures in the performance of job duties
Participating in security training provided by BigMachines
Reporting any potential security weakness, exposure or suspicious indications to manager
Skills/Requirements
2-5 years of finance, accounting, consulting, or analytical experience. Top performer with experience in investment banking, management consulting, or accounting firm ideal
Ability to successfully deal with difficult business questions and offer clear, data-based recommendations
Deep strategic business analysis skills and a solid understanding of all areas of finance
Strong financial modeling capabilities in Excel a must
Demonstrated leadership and project management skills in a team setting, especially in situations where team members are not direct reports
Demonstrated ability to effectively (and collaboratively) deliver results in cross-functional teams
Able to plan ahead and anticipate potential problems with the ability to adapt nimbly
Team player with superior communication, presentation and facilitation skills
Personal, outgoing, and team-oriented, and able to interface effectively with a variety of different people in various groups
Adept at working under pressure with tight deadlines. Strong time management skills required
Able to listen and interpret requirements of internal customers, and verify for accuracy
Absolute integrity and the use of good judgment to handle the confidential nature of duties, tasks, and information
Ability to learn and work with variety of software systems (e.g., Intacct, OpenAir, Salesforce.com)
Experience with journal entries and accruals preferred
BA from top quality academic institution and a track record of strong academic performance. Bachelor?s in finance or accounting preferred, or equivalent combination of education / experience
