Financial Planning Manager, SG&A Merrimack Pharmaceuticals
Merrimack Pharmaceuticals is a biopharmaceutical company discovering, developing and preparing to commercialize innovative medicines paired with companion diagnostics for the treatment of serious diseases, with an initial focus on cancer. Merrimack currently has six targeted therapeutic oncology candidates in clinical development.The lead candidate, MM-398, which Merrimack is planning to commercially manufacture and sell, is currently in Phase 3 clinical development.
The Financial Planning Manager, SG&A will serve as the primary liaison between Financial Planning and the Corporate and Commercial organizations, responsible for developing and managing financial reports including budgets, forecasts, long-range plans, variance analyses, and other ad-hoc analyses. The Manager will also be responsible for determining areas of potential cost savings and implementing new approaches for achieving savings. The Manager will report to the Director of Financial Planning and Analyses, with dotted lines into the Commercial and Corporate Divisions, and will support senior leadership in making decisions on the finances of these organizations.
Partner with Corporate and Commercial to compile budgets, forecasts, and long-range spending plans;
Provide variance analyses to budget stakeholders along with recommendations for any corrective actions needed;
Work with Commercial to develop drug models to inform strategic decision making, long-term plans, and potential business development activities
Work with Commercial to understand sales forecasts and align with revenue; use them to develop appropriate spending and resource plans for the short and long term
Present reports and analyses within Finance organization and to senior leadership
Where appropriate, serve as a liaison to external partners and provide financial information needed for external partnerships
Experience in financial planning, preferably within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment
Knowledge of accounting statements and financial reporting experience
Excellent analytic skills; highly proficient in Excel-based modeling with strong computer skills
Ability to operate both strategically (big picture) and operationally (small picture).
Must interact well in a team environment and demonstrate interpersonal relations by displaying a positive customer service attitude.
Bachelor?s and/or Master?s degree in Economics/Accounting/Finance or similar
