The Fleet Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the success and
optimization of both the Zipcar Fleet and Fleet Team staff through the use of lean processes and a solid understanding of operations and team management.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations and contracts management coupled with superior interpersonal skills and financial savvy. He/she will have previous experience managing a field-based team with additional office support staff with a proven track record of customer satisfaction and positive financial results.
With a deep knowledge of Charm City the ideal candidate will see growth opportunities and develop the strategy, relationships and agreements to grow our footprint with our ever-increasing demand. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Maintaining a superior quality fleet and minimizing vehicle downtime while working within a budget
Manage fleet operations staff and local vendors; assigns daily tasks to fleet coordinators, fleet associates and vendors as required
Manage vendor contracts and performance to maximize vehicle condition and uptime while minimizing inefficiency and costs
Maintain and strengthen relationships with car service and repair vendors
Manage the upkeep, maintenance, repair and cleanliness of vehicles for
the Baltimore Metro area
Manage the ongoing process of adding and removing vehicles from the market?s fleet, including the application of Zipcar branding and installation of Zipcar's proprietary access system
Strategically place vehicles to maximize utilization and revenue
Leverage established lean process concepts and develops new standards and processes that are Baltimore-specific in order to maximize performance
Process vendor payments and payment reports to the corporate office as needed
Handle Fleet-related customer service issues as delegated by the General Manager and Member Services team, including managing vehicle accidents
Obsess about Zipcar Member Experience; identify big picture trends/issues and recommend solutions to improve the Zipcar experience
Work with the Marketing team to promote new vehicles and locations
Completes special projects assigned by General Manager
The successful candidate will have the following experience, skills, and
Four year college degree in business, operations or related field required
Must pass Zipcar driving history requirements, pre-employment background check and drug screen
Minimum of 3-4 years of prior management experience
Experience in a fast-paced, matrix driven environment
Deep knowledge of the Baltimore City and its neighborhoods strongly preferred
Leadership - the individual has demonstrated the ability to supervise, lead and develop individuals and teams successfully
Problem Solving - the individual identifies and resolves problems in a
timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully and maintains
Interpersonal Skills ? ability to work well in a team environment, open to
others' ideas and exhibits willingness to try new things
Oral Communication - the individual speaks clearly and persuasively in
positive or negative situations and demonstrates group presentation skills
Written Communication- the individual edits work for spelling and
grammar, presents numerical data effectively and is able to read and
interpret written information
Planning/Organizing - the individual is self-directed and prioritizes and
plans work activities and uses time efficiently
Quality Control - the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality
Adaptability - the individual adapts to changes in the work environment,
manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change,
delays or unexpected events
Dependability - the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows
instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to
Technical Skill ? superior proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and administrative systems
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Flexibility to be on-call, as needed
Regular work hours are Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work as needed
