Summary
The Fleet Operations Manager is responsible for all Zipcar fleet operations in the Chicago area.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Financial and Operational Excellence
Manage and continuously improve fleet operations for optimal financial and operational performance as measured by COGS, vehicle uptime, gross margin, member survey scores and other key metrics
Perform detailed quantitative and qualitative analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions that improve performance in the near and long term
Maintain diligent adherence to budgeted financial and operating metrics, including diagnoses of past variances and forecasts of potential upcoming issues and opportunities
Upkeep/Maintenance/Repair of Vehicles
Work within new and established Zipcar processes to manage the upkeep, maintenance, repair and cleanliness of the growing Chicago area
Negotiate and manage vendor service contracts to ensure vehicles are properly maintained, repaired and cleaned to Zipcar's high standard
Analyze and determine when damaged vehicles should be repaired, to maintain car condition and resale value
Manage the process of in-fleeting and de-fleeting vehicles, including Zipcar branding preparation and installation of Zipcar's proprietary access system
Fleet Optimization and Strategy
Analyze market historical data to strategize around model mix and fleet growth
Work closely with Locations Merchandising Manager to assist in acquisition and optimization of parking locations in key areas
Supervision of Fleet Staff and Vendors
Lead a staff of up to 10 personnel, including Fleet Coordinators and Fleet Associates
Build and maintain relationships with key vendor partners (maintenance, repair, cleaning, in-/de-fleeting, etc.)
Manage vendor performance on hundreds of weekly tasks to maximize vehicle condition and uptime and minimize costs
Member Assistance with Vehicles
Perform vehicle-related member assistance and share on-call member assistance duties
Get in the field and help out the team with audits, evaluations, in-/de-fleeting and other hands-on activities
Qualifications:
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have the following experience, skills, and education:
Requirements
- Experience in managing staff, service contractors and other vendors
- Experience setting up and executing $500K+ service contracts
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Excellent organizational skills, especially within a matrix organization of local office operations and home office management
- Strong leadership skills and cross-functional partnering capabilities
- Contacts and processes and the ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals
- Strong process orientation and attention to detail
- Good financial and operational analytical skills
- Schedule flexibility to deal with unexpected issues and seasonal events
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Bachelor?s degree
- Approval for Zipcar membership
Preferred
- Prior experience with fleet operations, automotive maintenance and repair
- I-CAR certification
- Proficiency in vehicle estimating systems (i.e. CCC, Mitchell, Audatex, etc.)
