The Fleet Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the success and
optimization of both the Zipcar Fleet and Fleet Team staff through the use of lean processes and a solid understanding of operations and team management.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Manage fleet operations staff and local vendors; assigns daily tasks to fleet coordinator, fleet associates and vendors as required.
Work within a budget while maintaining excellent fleet condition and minimizing vehicle downtime; sends inventory and payment reports to vendors and corporate office as requested.
Monitors rates and maintains relationships with car service vendors.
Manage the upkeep, maintenance, repair and cleanliness of vehicles for entire Los Angeles market to include Orange County.
Manage the process of in-fleeting and de-fleeting vehicles, including the application of Zipcar branding and installation of Zipcar's proprietary accesssystem.
Manage vendor contracts and performance to maximize vehicle condition and uptime while minimizing inefficiency and costs.
Maximizes market performance through strategic car placement.
Leverage established lean process concepts and develop new standards and processes that are market specific in order to maximize performance.
Handles Fleet-related customer service issues as conveyed by General Manager and Member Services, including managing vehicles accidents.
Obsess about Zipcar Member Experience; identify big picture trends/issues and recommend solutions to improve the Zipcar Fleet.
Work with General Manager to strategically place fleet to maximize vehicle utilization and revenue; ensure Zipcar locations follow Zipcar merchandisingguidelines.
Maintains and establishes relationships with key local parking vendors and municipalities.
Ensures local market is compliant with all parking contracts.
Completes special projects assigned by General Manager.
The successful candidate must have the following experience, skills, and
Four year college degree in related field, preferred.
Must pass Zipcar driving history requirements.
Prior management experience.
Experience in fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to be on-call, as needed.
Local knowledge of market preferred.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Adaptability - the individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
Dependability - the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.
