The Food Service Program Manager (FSPM) directs and develops the food service program in all facets. From special events, to daily meal services, and all culinary operations, the position requires quick thinking, strong communication and dynamic leadership. The FSPM will lead the culinary team, while partnering directly with Office, Finance, and Facilities departments to integrate food service and values into the broader company's goals. Day-to-day management with vision toward the future as well as the frame by frame details of the program are equally crucial in this expanding role.
Responsibilities:
Create annual and quarterly program overviews and delegate manageable action plans.
Manage kitchen staff through job descriptions and program overview. Create new roles and responsibilities for additional and existing staff.
Set realistic benchmarks and expectations for kitchen staff.
Onboard, review, discipline and enforce corrective action for kitchen staff.
Develop and implement green practices and environmental sustainability initiatives.
Foster relationships with outside vendors and strategic partners.
Compare vendor pricing and value (triple bottom line: people, planet, profit) in all areas of purchasing (food, equipment, etc.).
Supervise and coordinate special event logistics with kitchen team.
Collaborate with Executive Chef and Sous Chef on weekly menus plans for all services (breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and special events).
Work with kitchen team to expand menu offerings to match company values and employee tastes. Ensure high standards for variety, nutrition, creativity and presentation.
Oversee kitchen operations and identify/correct operational inefficiencies.
Create and manage kitchen production schedule in association with Executive Chef.
Create and update Employee Handbook on ongoing basis.
Develop and oversee food safety/sanitation practices, training and ongoing compliance.
Oversee and provide input on kitchen layout for new facility including equipment, station diagrams, storage, etc.
Work with Finance team to forecast budget and convey to kitchen team expense projections/spending.
Manage budget with strategic purchasing, efficient kitchen systems, creative menus and excellent vendor relations.
Work with Talent to integrate kitchen staff into HR systems and comply with company policies and procedures.
Develop and update employee onboarding and introduction to food program, including creation of wiki with all relevant information about the program.
Manage communications for all kitchen staff in order to achieve more open dialogue and cohesive team communication.
Cultivate cohesive team environment that integrates Airbnb values and emphasizes fun and creativity.
Create, implement and expand upon food program values: influencing menu creation, purchasing, employee health and wellness, sustainability and service.
Requirements:
Minimum of five years of restaurant kitchen management or relevant food service experience.
Extremely organized and driven to create systems, establish structure and manage the process and outcome.
Effective and positive lead,rship skills, including ability to clearly set expectations, train individuals and foster teamwork.
Pre-existing relationships with food community businesse, and individu,ls.
Innovative green/waste/environmental impact ideas.
Extensive knife, preparation and cooking skills, and ability to train others.
Honest, clear and effective communication skills, oral and written.
Basic computer skills (doc, spreadsheets, etc.) required.
Ability to create, and train others in providing an exceptional product while taking pride in serving Talent.
Experience supervising, motivating and disciplining employees.
Ability to work in a high-energy, quick-moving and demanding environment.
Works well under pressure, can effectively solve problems and communicate challenges.
Makes bold, mold-breaking decisions for exceptional outcomes.
Adheres to all Health Department, OSHA and ADA regulations.
