This position may be filled in our Brooklyn, NY office or in our Hudson, NY Member Support office.
About the Forums Team
Etsy Forums moderators keep our forums running smoothly. With training, you?ll soon become an expert on all things Etsy, and you?ll point members in the right direction when they need extra help running their businesses or making purchases. It is the job of our Forums Mods to do everything in their power to help our members get the answers they need---quickly and compassionately---and to recognize and highlight the positive contributions of the incredible Etsy community.
Our Forums Mods provide a valuable feedback loop between our community and the folks in Engineering and Product. Working directly with our community, you?ll be collecting and sharing member suggestions, as well as pain points, directly with the rest of the company.
About the Position
Etsy Forum Moderators read the Etsy Forums daily and interact with the community, day and night, all days of the year. In this role you will be moderating the Etsy Forums primarily on nights and weekends.
You will be trained to become an expert on all things Etsy, from the most basic site tools to the newest and most exciting features.
You will develop a welcoming, friendly, helpful online voice and become an authority within the company on the best ways to communicate publicly with our members.
You will listen to our community and be asked to relay their feedback to product managers, engineers, and senior leadership. You'll be a valuable connection between Etsy and its community.
You will be able to recognize---and address---threats to the wellbeing of the community.
You will recognize and highlight positive contributions to the community.
You will use your written-communication superpowers to connect with the community and foster positive engagement.
Your work duties may expand beyond the Etsy Forums to provide solutions to our community members on other social media channels.
Both in person and online, you?ll be respectful, kind, upbeat, and dedicated to our community.
Please note that a portion of the training period for this position may take place at our member support center in Hudson, NY, where you may need to spend up to two weeks.
You are an online-communities superstar. You're active and proficient in several social networks.
You are confident in your voice. You have an engaging, upbeat personality and the skills to convey that in an online environment.
You know the tricks and pitfalls of online written communication. You can convey the right message with the right tone, keeping in mind the nuances of communicating with a global audience with a wide range of sensibilities and cultural backgrounds.
You excel under pressure.
You have online customer service experience, particularly in live chat and a one-to-many (public) communication format. You're levelheaded and have the ability to remain cool and apply policy objectively.
You have an exceptional ability to multitask and great organizational skills.
You can work with a high level of autonomy within a team structure.
You?re willing to keep a flexible schedule, which will include nights, weekends, and holiday hours.
You are customer-focused and enjoy working in a startup environment.
If you?re fluent in a second language.
