Front-End Designer/Developer Renewable Funding
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Renewable Funding (http://renewfund.com) is a venture-backed startup whose mission is to advance climate neutrality, energy independence, and green job creation through the nationwide deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency finance programs. Our founders and executive management are in Oakland, CA. Our tech team is in Portland, OR.
We are looking for a designer/developer for a direct-hire position in our Portland office.
In this position, you will be a member of a small full-stack web app dev team that works closely with our product team to define, develop, and refine our software. You will also be expected to:
contribute new ideas to rapidly evolving architectures
help continuously improve our teamwork and development processes
provide and receive technical guidance, mentoring, and training to/from your team members at all levels.
We work on a wide variety of systems: public information websites, mobile sales tools, energy usage reporting tools, and back-end loan processing software. Our current project is a financial services call center system.
We are Agile, though estimating isn't a huge focus. Our product owners have been well trained so we hum along pulling logically consistent stories from our queue. We architect collaboratively, pair occasionally, but mostly work solo with code reviews and pull requests. We try to keep knowledge silos to a minimum. Everyone works on everything.
We work regular business hours on-site with the occasional coffee shop or work-from-home day.
Skills & Requirements
You not only love building great software, but also enjoy helping your teammates continuously improve their abilities. You want to be part of a team where every member helps direct the development process. You want to work for a diverse, socially and environmentally conscious company that will invest in you and whose mission has a positive impact on the world.
You are a skilled designer with:
Expertise at taking UI/UX design from high level business requirements through to implementation in a web application framework
A penchant for creating styleguides including directives for code organization and namespacing
Experience with libraries and tools like: Bootstrap, Foundation, LESS, SASS
Experience with Rails and JS frameworks like Angular, Backbone, and Ember is a plus.
About Renewable Funding
We take work quality and professional development seriously and also maintain a fun collaborative atmosphere with meals together, lunchtime bike rides, happy-hours, weekend hikes, and volunteer event participation; all optional.
We have a spacious office in downtown Portland surrounded by food carts and reachable by light rail, bicycle, and car. Our office is an open-floor-plan with private conference rooms for quiet work. We have electric standup desks and a regulation foursquare court. Come for the ping-pong, stay for the excitement of excelling at architecting technical solutions to human problems and developing thoughtful software that can be shared outside its intended context while serving the business requirements of a forward-thinking and developer-friendly company whose mission is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through inexpensive financing of clean energy construction projects!
