Functional Requirements Analyst BestTransport
Description
The Functional Requirements Analyst is a non-technical position responsible for design, functionality, documentation and implementation for new features and product lines. He or she will create UI design proposals/wireframes, gather usability input, work with Designers to create mock-ups, produce detailed feature specifications, and work closely with software developers and stakeholders to manage the implementation of these features.
What it is
Analyze business requirements from other departments for UI impact and rapidly iterate through UI design proposals to meet these requirements
Develop high level and/or detailed storyboards, mockups, use case scenarios, and task flows to effectively communicate design ideas and interactions based on product and business requirements
Work with UI designers and developers to implement approved designs
Write clear, concise, thorough, detailed UI requirements
Work with development team to manage implementation of proposals from requirements sign-off through Development & QA cycles to production
Advocate usability standards and customer experience in all areas
Work with cross functional teams to conduct usability testing and inspections
Assist in development of techniques to conduct user centered research: field visits, observations, and interviews.
Assist in development of aesthetic standards for all applications
Work directly with customers to define requirements, test completed products, perform user acceptance testing (UAT), and coordinate beta program for designated projects.
Responsible for testing on all assigned projects to ensure that finished product meets all of the requirements outlined during design phase.
Prepare documentation for internal programs, includes creating training programs and documentation to be used to launch new product or feature across organization.
Prepare documentation for external customers, includes quick reference guides, user / help documentation, training programs, etc.
What it is not:
Development position: Product Development team will be responsible for the development, testing, and implementation of the feature sets based on the designs from Product Design team.
Product Manager: Product Managers define the feature sets of each product and work with the design and development resources to build them.
Desired Skills / Experience
2-5 years of professional experience in related field
Previous experience with
Web based B2B tools
Writing detailed user interface design specifications
Usability test design and moderation
Creating user interface design prototypes from storyboards to interactive prototypes
Photoshop, HTML, and/or Dreamweaver knowledge a plus
Ability to rapidly conceptualize new designs impacting multiple platforms, and iterate through multiple versions a plus
Understanding of current Web trends, browsers, and Web usability best practices
Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
