Our goal is to make the best mobile social games in the world and our game servers are central to that goal. Simply put, we're looking for the most talented and driven server engineers in the gaming business to work with us. Our game server engineers build software that juggles the needs of a massive user population.The server engineers we're looking for have a passion for building scalable, performant, maintainable and beautiful code in a variety of programming languages in a production environment. Our engineers take games from concept to live deployment and play a key role at every stage.
As a member of the engineering team at ngmoco:) your responsibilities
will include:
Bringing game features to life from idea to implementation.
Design and implementation of core game server features.
Design and implementation of persistence solutions for game servers.
Diagnosing and fixing bottlenecks, tuning and tweaking of server code.
Tuning of game server code for performance and scalability.
Things we expect from our Senior Server Engineers:
A deep understanding of computers and computer programming.
A commitment to writing testable code and accompanying tests.
Extensive knowledge of databases of all kinds, with different ways of hooking them up to applications, and with database tools.
An understanding of modern web application architecture. You should know what REST means. You should know what an HTTP request and response look like
Strong understanding of computer networking in general, including
knowledge of live deployments and the hardware and software that make it happen.
A foundation in Unix/Linux. You should be able to hop onto a box and tell us what's running and how well it's running.
Knowledge of scaling applications from a single machine to a large deployment.
Experience with cloud technologies in general and ec2 in particular
Experience with noSQL technologies a plus (mongo a double plus)
Experience with at least two of the following languages: php, ruby, python, javascript
Experience in working with node.js
