Geologist MicroSeismic
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED
The geologist works together with the geophysicists to provide an integrated geosciences-based analysis of micro-earthquake data collected from passive seismic monitoring of reservoir stimulation and production related seismicity. The main goal of the geologic analysis is to provide a geologic context in which to interpret microseismic event locations, including deformation history, fracture orientations, fault interactions, failure mechanisms, in-situ stress, and rock mechanical behavior.
Key technical responsibilities:
Compile geologic information from available sources and generate background geologic setting for microseismic monitoring projects
Generate regional geologic and location maps using local surface data and subsurface data (if available)
Collect and integrate remote sensing data where appropriate to the project
Integrate available rock mechanical data with microseismic source mechanism information to interpret fault and/or fracture mechanisms
Analyze microseismic data for geometric trends related to inferred or interpreted subsurface structure
Prepare geologic analysis of micro-earthquake data for inclusion in technical reports and presentations to clients
Required Qualifications:
Degree in earth science discipline (Master's preferred)
Ability to present results and interpretations clearly to diverse audience
Must be U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems concepts and software applications
Familitarity with rock mechanics principles and faulting and earthquake mechanics concepts
Experience using geological modeling packages and 3D visualization techniques
Some familiarity with oil and gas operations
Salary and benefits package commensurate with experience.
