COMPENSATION: Salary is competitive with other early-stage businesses with performance bonus
based on gross profit targets.
OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE AN IMPACT:
The Global Sales Director, Outdoor Markets will report to the Chief Executive Officer, and will serve as
the Outdoor division?s lead for both retail and online sales. This position holds primary P&L responsibility
for all revenue generated in BioLite?s Outdoor and Emergency Preparedness markets. BioLite is looking
for someone who is excited about growing his or her career at a fun, fast-paced, socially conscious
startup environment. The candidate must be well organized with strong, creative sense for brand and
marketing.
COMPANY OVERVIEW:
BioLite is a funded startup that develops; manufactures and markets distributed energy solutions for offgrid communities around the world. Our first products are clean-burning, wood fueled cooking stoves
capable of converting their own waste heat in to electricity to charge electronic devices. Our business
serves two distinct markets, 1) developing world families living in energy poverty, and 2) outdoor
enthusiasts seeking fuel independent cooking and charging.
Developing World:
Half the planet still cooks on indoor open wood fires and the toxic smoke they emit kills nearly 2 million
people every year, twice as many as malaria. Previous efforts to address indoor smoke with clean
cookstoves have failed to achieve the smoke reductions necessary to protect health and have also failed
to catalyze consumer demand due to minimal functionality beyond that of a traditional open fire. BioLite
has developed an advanced, affordable, clean burning stove that combines unprecedented emissions
reductions with economically valuable electricity generation.
Our products are capable of reducing indoor smoke by more than 90% while cutting fuel use in half. By
providing our largely off-grid customers with the ability to charge cell phones and LED lights, our stoves
create economic incentive for purchase and continued use, ensuring sustainable delivery of our health
and environmental benefits.
Outdoor and Emergency:
Over the years camping stoves have become lighter and faster to boil yet still rely on consumable,
environmentally polluting petroleum fuels. Petrol stoves require users to carry heavy fuel reserves and
constantly ration gas supply to prevent depletion. Beyond the inconvenience of carrying fuel, petrol is inconsistent with the natural experience campers desire in the outdoors with its well-known environmental
and climate impacts.
Our CampStove? offers a much needed, green alternative to petroleum cooking combining the speed
and reliability of an advanced stove with the appeal of a traditional campfire. Using our revolutionary
product, outdoor enthusiasts can cook meals and charge gadgets using nothing but the underbrush and
twigs they collect on their journey, eliminating the need to carry fuel.

? Wholesale Sales
o Develop global sales plan to manage and grow BioLite?s wholesale account base in North
America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
o Effective distribution of all products is in place in all targeted regions (3)
o Sales, service and profitability targets are hit, consistent with plans and budgets, in all territories
(2).
o Positive relationships are maintained with business partners (2).
o Serve as the primary contact, in concert with the company president, for key accounts
and house accounts. (2)
o Distribute literature and point of purchase materials consistent with plans, policies and
budgets. (2)
o Participate in planning and coordinating all company trade show efforts (4)

o Trade show plan developed and approved annually no later than June 30

? Direct Sales
o Mentor and direct eCommerce Manager to drive sales of CampStove product through the
company?s online store. (1)
o Develop online sales plan that maximizes gross profit without undermining retail
penetration. (2) report to CEO.
o Work with Director of Marketing to create targeted online advertising and media
campaigns. (3)
o Together with ecommerce Manager and director of Marketing, analyze incoming traffic to
evaluate priority markets and determine cost of acquisition for customers. (2) and report
to CEO.
? Planning
o Participate in the cooperative team effort to create, attain approval of, and implement a
comprehensive annual sales plan and budget that supports company direction, plans,
objectives and goals. (4)
o Produce and provide a unit sales forecast, by SKU, by month on a rolling twelve month
basis.
A unit sales forecast for the next 12 months is always available
Sales forecast accuracy will be within prescribed accuracy limits
o Provide inventory recommendations, by SKU on a 12 month rolling basis. (2)
o Work closely with CEO to develop global pricing plans for current and future products
taking onto account geographic and channel sensitivities. (2)o Work closely with Director of Marketing to support sales objectives with targeted and
coordinated marketing campaigns. (3)
? Market Intelligence
o Cost effectively gather, interpret and report on relevant market trends, conditions,
opportunities and threats. (2)

o Provide collaborative input to Product Development team based on market insight and

? Finance and General
o Work closely with Director of Operations to ensure consistent communication of sales
timing, inventory needs and financial terms. (2)
o Work closely with CEO to guide both near and long-term strategic, product and financial
planning. (3)
o Consistently portray the company in a positive manner, telling the Sea to Summit story,
promoting the brand, and expanding and improving the brand name awareness. (1)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
? 8 plus years experience selling hard goods products in the Outdoor industry, MBA a plus.
? Experience negotiating and driving distributor relationships and related marketing programs.
? Proficiency with inventory management and product forecasting.
? Experience directing web and channel marketing programs and promotions.
? Strong relationships in outdoor retail channels a plus.
? Superb written and oral communications skills.
? Strong organizational and time management skills.
? Stamina, accountability, sense of humor, proactive approach and work ethic appropriate for a
fast-paced, team-oriented company.
