Job Description:


The Graphic Designer I is responsible for the creation of original book cover designs/graphic designs with a look toward marketability. The Graphic Designer I will be aware of current design trends as they relate to particular fiction and non-fiction genres. Design discussions and critiques are ongoing and provide guidance to ensure high quality, superior designs. Additional non-cover related design projects will be assigned on an as-needed basis.

Duties

Provide superior Book Cover Design /Graphic Design.

Participate in Special Design Projects.

Keep current and apply working knowledge of industry-standard print and presentation software, including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator and Dreamweaver), Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; and Quark, working knowledge of Flash.

Maintain superior skill in graphic design, typography and color sense as well as knowledge of current design trends.

Consistently produce a high volume of quality work under pressure and with tight deadlines.

Apply knowledge of all aspects of offset and digital prepress and print production processes and technology.
Participate in the expansion of the company brand.


Job Requirements:



Education: College Degree required, preferably in Fine-Arts or Graphic Desgin.

Experience: Three to five years experience in an ad agency or design studio. Knowledge of all aspects of offset and digital prepress and print production processes and technology. A current knowledge of new technologies and current trends is also required, as designer will be expected to participate in the expansion of the company brand. .

Specific Skills: Superior knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook e-mail, Internet use, and typing skills at 50 WPM

Physical Skill: Sufficient manual and digital dexterity to work with a computer, keyboard, mouse, monitor, and phone pad.

Working Conditions: 8:00 am ? 5:00 pm core schedule with frequent flexibility for start and ending times. Additional hours and/or overtime depending on the position may be required due to business needs. Other duties may be required as assigned.
