Graphic Designer eInstruction
As a member of the Creative Services team, the Graphic Designer employs eInstruction branding, individual design skills, and marketing communication elements to produce visual presentations by designing art and copy layouts. The designer is expected to work across a number of marketing communication channels including, but not limited to: direct mail, email, packaging, print collateral, website/digital media, print and digital advertising, premiums, and exhibits. The successful designer will apply brand image, product awareness, market knowledge, and appropriate creativity to develop pieces that are visually appealing, consistent with defined messaging, and support expressed strategies.
The incumbent will serve as a member of the Creative Services Team within the Marketing Department team and ensure that all the functions are effectively coordinated. Focus areas will include:
Develop and implement visual communication materials from concept through production by exploring research source material, understanding product features and offerings, applying applicable design best practices, and providing design reviews/approvals and presentations
Prepare concepts by gathering and studying applicable information and materials
Present multiple concepts to consider which is best suited to the assigned project
Illustrate concepts by designing rough layouts of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts
Obtain approval of concept and prepare production-ready copy and artwork
All design projects will be completed within budget and on deadlines, as assigned
Participate in creative development and brainstorming sessions on specified projects. This includes organizing sessions, providing elements for discussion such as imagery, customer demographic knowledge and product knowledge, and distributing summaries with action items
Create and distribute style guides and manage quality control standards of communications materials
Ensure adherence to branding guidelines
Create product logos and product packaging, as required
Complete project by coordinating with outside vendors, printers, publishers, art services, and other project stakeholders as needed
Build and maintain positive relationships with team members, other Marketing staff, other eInstruction departments and staff members, as well as external vendors/agencies

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Ability to provide creative direction to other designers and external vendors ? photographers, illustrators, producers, etc.
Proficient in InDesign, Quark, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Photoshop software. Ability to work in Flash is a plus
Strong sense of design with the proven ability to build ideas and visualize the ?big picture?
Ability to prepare and manage electronic files from initial concepts through to final production
Proven ability to provide strong and quick-turn creative concepts
Ability to work with outside vendors and manage production needed to meet delivery deadlines

Required Experience:
5-10 years of increasing design experience with demonstrated track record of design leadership in a team environment
Strong background in defining communications and creative processes from planning/definition to execution and measurement
B2B and/or B2C communications experience involving print and digital advertising, direct marketing, collateral, packaging, exhibits and Web site/multimedia
Successful cross-functional and cross-organizational teaming where influence and collaboration, rather than control, is required to achieve goals
Participation in end-customer interactions with deep appreciation for educator perspectives and concerns. Involvement with formal and informal market research projects and processes relating to communications
Experience with education market and technology product marketing a plus

Education:
Bachelor's degree in commercial art, graphic design/communications or related field
PC and Apple computers and various software applications. Occasional travel may be required.
