Healthline is searching for a Designer with stellar graphic, typographic and UI design skills. This is a great opportunity to work on products that impact the health and care of millions of people.
This position is focused on brand identity and application UI design. This person will spend most of his or her time evolving the visual design and usability of Healthline.com, conceptualizing and designing editorial packages, and on streamlining Healthline.coms clinical applications into a coherent and cohesive patient experience.
This position requires you to work closely with designers, editorial staff, product managers, marketing, and informatics.
Responsibilities
- Ensure design consistency across all areas of Healthline.com and external usages of Healthline.
- Work collaboratively with product teams to produce effective and useful page designs, icons, storyboards, scenarios, and interactive prototypes.
- Participate in concept development, design ideation, and detailed specification of visual designs for future clinical applications.
- Create visual designs that address business, brand, market, and user requirements, including design and production of screen layouts, color palettes, typographic schemes, and interface elements.
- Collaborate with producers, editorial team, interaction designers, and engineers to refine the user experience and release the final product on schedule.
- Oversee that all photo selections adhere to brand guidelines.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Digital/New Media Design or other closely related field.
- 5 years experience in the role of Designer, participating in the complete product development lifecycle of several successfully launched consumer-oriented websites that include monetization.
- Strong design skills including webpage layouts, information design, and typography. Must have an awesome eye for detail. Able to develop new approaches to complex design problems and can convey ideas into tangible form. These skills must be demonstrated in your online portfolio.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in a dynamic cross-functional team, and be able to rationalize and present their design ideas and decisions effectively. Must be able to prioritize and manage work to adhere to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be fluent in PhotoShop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver. Possess good knowledge of current web technologies (html,dhtml,css), web standards, cross-browser compatibility issues, and page optimization. Proficiency with Flash and inDesign is a plus.
Overall, candidate must have solid grasp of graphic design, interface design, information architecture and usability principles, and be able to demonstrate this in their online portfolio.
