Greenhouse Maintenance/Facilities Technician (100-229) Synthetic Genomics

Job Description

Under supervision will be responsible for assisting in day to day operation, systems preventative maintenance and culture system fabrication inside pilot R+D facility. The position will involve working closely with the greenhouse manager and staff to assure that facility maintenance and operational tasks are completed as required. An individual with a mixture of ?hands on? aptitude and laboratory experience is an ideal fit. Experience culturing algae at a variety of scales, indoors and outdoors is a plus. Attention to detail is a critical requirement.
Required Skills

Experience with fermentation and/or algal culturing systems is desired.
Experience working in a laboratory setting.
Must have experience with PVC piping fabrication and pipefitting.
Laboratory equipment maintenance aptitude is desirable.
Facility equipment calibration following company SOP?s is required.
Experience with culture systems control and monitoring is preferred (SCADA, pH, CO2 etc.); however, we will train.
Must have electrical experience with 120V, 240V and low voltage applications.
Ability to troubleshoot logically and work in a proactive manner.
Detail oriented and organized is a must.
Must be proficient with most hand and power tools.
Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP?s) and additional verbal and written directions is required.
Must be a team-player who works well in a team oriented environment.
Must be able to work overtime.
Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
Experience with SOP development is desired.
Previous experience with CMMS systems and inventory control is a plus.
Ability to work in a hot/humid environment (greenhouse).
Must be able to work a schedule which includes weekends.

Applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Must be able to perform a mixture of bending, squatting, kneeling, and standing for the working period
Must be punctual, dependable, have a team player personality and excellent communication skills.
Proficient in English
High School diploma or GED with minimum 2 year maintenance or construction trade background preferably electrical emphasis.
