Description:Plateau is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to join our OnDemand / SaaS Production Data Center Operations Team.
The person applying for the role of Oracle Database Administrator will join a team of DBAs that install, monitor, maintain, tune production, staging and training databases as well as work on backup and restoration. While this is the primary focus of this role we would also expect this person to be proficient in the fundamentals of database design and to have experience with data migrations and the PL/SQL and SQL scripting associated with such migrations.
Job Duties include:
- Installing and upgrading the Oracle server and related Oracle tools
- Allocating storage and planning for future storage requirements for the database systems
- Creating primary database storage structures (table spaces) and maintaining them
- Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database (if needed)
- Planning for backup and recovery of the databases
Technical Duties include:
- Technical support, upgrades as necessary
- The DBA maybe responsible for the batch loading of data into official production ORACLE tables from approved data files, etc. given by development staff of vendors of applications.
- The DBA will ensure that the data loaded into ORACLE tables is as accurate as the data source
- Archival of log files as necessary
- Monitoring the storage subsystems (may include RAID, External storage devices)
- Exporting data out of the database on demand by customer
- Understanding and employing the optimal flexible architecture to ease administration, allow flexibility in managing I/O, and to increase the capability to scale the system
- Performing Oracle cold backups when the database is shut down to ensure consistency of the data
- Performing Oracle hot backups while the database is operational
- Performing Oracle import/export as a method of recovering data or individual objects
- Providing retention of data to satisfy legal responsibilities of the company
- Restoring database services for disaster recovery
- Recovering the database in the event of a hardware or software failure
- Using partitioning and transportable table spaces to reduce downtime, when appropriate
Required Qualifications:
- 4-5 years experience with Oracle Database Administration, SQL and PL/SQL programming
- 1-2 year experience with Oracle 10g, GRID Control, SQL-Plus
- 4-5 year experience on UNIX/Linux platforms
- Minimum Oracle OCA certification req'd; OCP/OCM a plus.
- Bachelor degree and/or diploma
- Infrastructure/application DBA
- Experience with Linux, Solaris shell scripting
- Performance analysis and tuning
- Experience with Data Guard and other replication technologies a plus
- Experience with RMAN, cold and hot back up scripting for Oracle
- Experience with ASM & RAC a plus
- Experience with import, export, data migrations, PL/SQL and SQL scripting
- Strong problem solving skills
- Works effectively with a minimum of direction
- Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness and ability to handle oncall duties
- Must be eligible to work in the US without employer sponsorship and be eligible/qualify to obtain a US government clearance.
