Do you value integrity in what you do?
We strive for integrity in all that we do: truthful relationships with customers, prospective customers, partners, investors, and each other. As we grow, our commitment to integrity has only increased.
Guidewire is expanding in Europe and has multiple openings for software consultants with 5 years or more of experience. We hire people who are considered “ERP Implementation Consultants,†“Configuration Consultant†and “IT Consultant†at other companies. Titles are not as important to us as the quality of the people we work with and the opportunity to be productive. We strive to constantly improve our development process, apply the latest Agile and Lean techniques, and collaborate to create and maintain the greatest enterprise software suite in the Property and Casualty Insurance industry.
Are you dedicated to rationality in your dealings with your colleagues, clients and other departments?
We prize clear, rational and collaborative communications on our projects that is plainly based on logic, total commitment to quality, and to making decisions based on factual evidence.
Are you into working on a team that is comprised of professional equals with a minimum of hierarchy?
We understand that certain cultures and companies are interested in titles and a rigid chain of command which is one way of organizing a company's culture.
At Guidewire, we value people at every stage of their career and try to minimize those barriers for collaboration. It is reflected in how we communicate with each other company-wide and on projects. Every engineer and consultant brings something to the table whether in the earlier years of their career or after a long and successful progression.
Guidewire is a software company.
Our customers are insurance companies, and insurance software is surprisingly complex, difficult to get right, and actually a lot of fun to work on. Demand for our software is on the rise, and we are growing to meet the needs of the market.
Our implementation process is sustainable (no death marches), work/life balance friendly, and we pride ourselves on a calm, systematic, and rational approach to our business. See and hear from our employees here - http://www.guidewire.com/about_guidewire/careers
So what will I be doing?
You will be helping make our customer's lives easier and their businesses more efficient as they adopt our solution. Our job in Professional Services begins when the software leaves the engineering floor; each customer has their own configuration and integration needs. Our Source Code is never modified but the way the software can look and flow will depend on the country and the company.
We break the mold from traditional consultants.
We send a small team of Subject Matter Experts who work in tandem with the insurance company's internal team to address their needs, and become a trusted advisor and mentor. Our services team is involved in every sale, and you can rest assured that the requirements are being established by professionals who have been through implementations themselves. Our software is incredibly complex and well-tested â€"over 1,000 years' of man hours has been invested in our products so far.
How do I become a Subject Matter Expert?
We invest in you immediately by sending you through product certification training, and then a shadow assignment with a customer. You'll receive 2 months of training before you're ever expected to be billable.
Our Professional Services team works on-site at our customers.
To accomplish that we employ a flexible travel schedule of traveling to the customer on Mondays to return on Thursday which has been called the 3-4-5 in the industry: 3 nights away, 4 days onsite, with the fifth day working from home.
Our hiring is as methodical, rational and stringent as our Development standards…
To be considered you should have a minimum of 5 years post graduate experience in the following:
- ERP implementation experience or Consulting experience within complex, enterprise environments
- Strong scripting and test skills with programming knowledge, exceptional documentation skills, and the ability to communicate your thought process
- XML, SQL, Javascript and database experience â€" we do facilitate a written test as part of the selection process
- Experience in AGILE project management
- Interest and experience in a customer facing role and on-site; we are all over the world and you are invited to apply to as many international assignments as you deem interesting
- Ability to travel to the US for product certification; and interest and ability to travel throughout the EU and UK without encumbrance which is enabled by EU or UK citizenship only. We do not sponsor candidates for work authorization and unfortunately due to travel restrictions we cannot consider other types of residency and work authorization such as TIER 1 Visas.
Other types of things that we like to cultivate â€"
- Curiosity based on genuine love of technology and solving tough technical problems
- Accountability based on an earnest desire to do what is expected without prompting
- Kindness and respect for your fellow teammates. We truly do want to build teams that like to work together so we do hire team players who are motivated to be courteous and productive
What's in it for me otherwise?
We know that people work based on incentives so we have an exceptional and rational compensation policy. We pay base, performance incentives, and restricted stock units. Now that we are a public company, you can not only participate in profit sharing but in the equity distribution of our mutual outcome. Given that Guidewire is the top performing IPO in Q1 2012, we are confident that you will appreciate this strategy.
Why Guidewire?
As a team, our mission is to provide distinguished consulting and support services to prospects, partners, and customers which result in 100 percent reference-able customers which guides us in all that we do.
Guidewire has pursued one mission from its founding as a company in 2001: to be the pre-eminent provider of next-generation core systems -- policy, claims, and billing -- to the global property-casualty (general) industry. All of our employees understand that we serve only one industry and strive to solve one problem: to enable insurance carriers to migrate completely from legacy systems to a modern core system platform. We have recruited extensively among experts in the industry to ensure that we learn from veterans of insurance system design and implementation. Today, insurance experience is pervasive throughout the Guidewire organization, especially in our Product Management and Implementation Services groups. The company is headquartered in San Mateo, California, US with offices in London, Paris, Munich, Sydney, Toronto, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and now, Dublin. Guidewire is owned by its employees and is also publicly traded on the NYSE EURO under the call sign GWRE.
