Hadoop Engineer Wordnik

Wordnik is looking to expand all aspects of its technology team.

We are a San Mateo based startup. Wordnik was founded by lexicographer Erin McKean and is venture funded by an all-star group of bay-area investors. Wordnik builds and supports http://www.wordnik.com as well as a public RESTful API which serves millions of requests a day. We run with noSQL databases, analyze data with Hadoop, and use a variety of programming languages including Java, Python, Ruby and Scala.

Analysis Engineer
We are seeking an analysis engineer to help build software which processes our huge collection of English text in both aggregate and real-time. Degree in Computer Science or Engineering field required, minimum 5 years programming experience.

Required Experience
- Java or Scala programming
- Integration with SOA, external web services
- Experience writing map-reduce jobs with Hadoop
- Exposure to Lucene, Solr or other search framework

You'll do even better with:
- NLP or text processing
- Python programming skills
- Experience with Pig or Hive
- Hadoop server configuration
- Experience with virtual servers
