The Hardware Design Engineer will develop hardware and platforms in various form factors that are at the core of Jawbone?s flagship products. He/She will work closely with in house engineering teams (EE, ME, SW) to develop complete solutions. They will then work with partner companies and project managers to bring the products to production. They develop original designs and monitor the work of our partners. They are responsible for delivery of the complete hardware portion of the product and will coordinate with a cross functional global team.
Core Responsibilities:
Develop original, power efficient and class leading electronic hardware.
Make product cost and architecture trade-offs working with Product Manager and allied teams.
Author detailed Hardware Product Requirements Documents and specifications to enable efficient product development.
Responsible for schematic capture, component choices, and PCB layout floor planning.
Some travel (20% international and domestic) may be required
Perform board level bring up
Review all product validation reports and test reports generated while testing the product.
Experience of a consumer electronics environment dealing with high volume and high quality products is an advantage, as is dealing with associated problems such as RF-induced noise.
Duties include subsystem design reviews, prototyping, schematic reviews, prototype bring up and debugging, hardware testing, generation of hardware bugs, working with cross-functional teams on debug/analysis/prove-out and also some manufacturing test support.
Requirements:
BS/MS EE or equivalent
5+ years of work experience on consumer electronics products from concept to design to shipping
Experience with battery powered, power efficient designs
Experience with Embedded system or ARM-based system design
Experience with Li-Poly and Li-Ion battery and charger circuit design
Prior experience working with overseas manufacturing partners
Excellent verbal and written skills
Excellent team player
Experience with OrCAD Capture/CIS and Allegro PCB layout strongly desired
