Hardware Engineer Jawbone
Job Description
You will be working at the forefront of embedded system design for audio and wireless centric products that will define the future of wearable computing. Your skill set and experience will enable Jawbone to stay as the leading developer of audio products.
We are looking for an individual that will work closely with partner companies to design and develop novel consumer electronics hardware. You will develop original designs and monitor the work for our partners. The main responsibility is to deliver the hardware portion of the product and work closely with cross functional teams. Other responsibilities and requirements are:
Experience dealing with overseas development partners for new hardware platforms
Act as point of contact to joint development partners. This includes ability to answer almost all detailed board level design questions that might arise at the JDM.
Work with Product Managers and Engineers to make products cost effective with appropriate architecture trade-offs.
Provide detailed Hardware product requirements and specifications to enable efficient product development with partners.
Review all product validation and test plans authorized by partner and internal validation groups.
Analyze reports generated while testing the product and review all product validation reports.
Help drive compliance testing needed for product launch into worldwide locations.
Collaborate in board level bring up with partners.
Selection and qualification of overseas partners in terms of design and development capabilities.
Familiarity with the design of low power products. Experience with consumer electronics environment, dealing with high volume and high quality products is an advantage.
Subsystem design reviews, prototyping, schematic reviews, prototype bring up and debug, hardware testing, generation of hardware bugs, working with cross-functional teams on debug/analysis/prove-out and manufacturing test support.
Experience/Qualifications Preferred
Bachelor / Master / Electronics
Must have experience with high-speed digital design (DDR, NAND and NOR Flash)
Power supply design experience highly desired
Strong knowledge of PCB layout, routing for high speed digital, analog and RF based designs
Knowledge of design re-use, integration, netlist generation techniques preferred
Experience with the following interfaces: I2C, I2S, SPI, and USB
Experience with Bluetooth preferred
Experience with WiFi (802.11a/b/g/n) preferred
EMC and ESD management techniques experience at the board and system level
7 + years of experience on board level design (block diagram to schematic to PCB)
Prior experience working with ODMs and JDMs in China/Taiwan preferred
Strong knowledge of Design and Hardware architecture workflow
Ability to lead local and overseas team to launch a successful product
Experience with global regulatory compliance certification
Experience with OrCAD/Capture CIS strongly desired
PADs PCB layout tool experience preferred
Team player with excellent verbal and written skills
