We have an immediate opening for a Hardware Engineering Specialist in our San Mateo, California headquarters.
We are currently looking for an energetic and talented Hardware Engineering Specialist as we expand our Device Production Group. This position reports to the Engineering Manager. Our Hardware Engineering Specialists are responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and assisting with the reverse engineering, discovery, and integration efforts of a varied array of mobile handset devices produced by multiple manufacturers into Keynote?s proprietary testing and monitoring hardware platform. We are looking for someone who is passionate about electronics, loves a good challenge, and where attention to detail and perfection is a part of their everyday life. Telecommuting is not authorized for this position.
Provide first-level hardware RMA triage and resolution, install and perform minor repairs of integrated mobile devices and peripheral equipment, and identify and update software configurations, following predefined design and installation specifications.
Conduct computer and device diagnostics to investigate and resolve device failures. Collaborate with hardware engineers and assembly technicians to identify and resolve integrated device issues.
Develop and maintain documentation of assigned escalations, remedial actions taken, and installation/configuration activities.
Reverse engineer/interpret mobile device hardware video and touch screen input/output using digital volt meters (DMV), and Oscilloscopes, and other analog and digital tools.
Perform functional testing of integrated devices prior to delivering to Quality Control for full regression testing. Identify integration failures, device integrity issues, and build out quality of devices.
Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and management to establish requirements for new systems and/or hardware modifications.
Support and assist assembly technicians in delivering upon internal production schedules and commitments.
Configure test system database settings for newly integrated device models.
Develop, teach, and peer-review, and maintain documentation of new device integration techniques and procedures that will be used by hardware assembly technicians.
Work independently to meet team goals with minimal supervision.
3-5 years? experience in technical troubleshooting in both digital and analog circuits, electronics assembly work, and surface-mount and small component soldering, preferably within an electronics manufacturing environment.
BS or AA degree in computer system support or military training in electronics; certification in computer application support.
Excellent soldering and surface mount device (SMD) rework skills with strong electronic workmanship skills and unwavering attention to detail.
Demonstrate proficiency using electronic test equipment such as digital voltmeters (DMV), digital multimeters (DMM), oscilloscope, RF probes, and logic analyzers.
Ability to identify and have working knowledge of electronic parts, components, and PCB boards.
Eager to exceed personal build-out quotas and assist teammates to do the same.
Demonstrate proficiency reading and interpreting electrical schematics, drawings, specifications, and manuals.
Be familiar with device drivers within Windows/PC environments.
Must work well independently and within a team environment, be highly motivated and enthusiastic, and be comfortable working in a fast paced environment where working on multiple priority activities is normal. Willing to learn new processes, techniques, and procedures.
Willing to work weekends, when necessary.
Having a strong interest in cell phone technology is preferred.
Demonstrate professional verbal and written communication skills.
Familiar with C++ programming and SQL is a plus.
