THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION:
This position is for a HW/FPGA Architect who would be responsible for the design, implementation and testing of the core datapath and control plane for our communications product line. The individual will be involved in the definition and implementation of the hardware and network architecture involving system partitioning, FPGA code and board design. We are looking for an individual who is a self-starter, energetic, results oriented and a team player with positive attitude and excellent people skills.
Interface with marketing to understand customer requirements and recommend potential architectures and solutions
Provide leadership in HW system design and partitioning as it relates to datapath and control path FPGA/DSP implementation and integration into system
Assess feasibility and scope of different design approaches and architectures and make recommendations on which way to proceed
Drive a disciplined design process and methodology across the organization
Develop the FPGA code that implements various aspects of system functionality including such things as DSP algorithms, SW defined radio, FEC, framing, data interleaving, CPU interfaces, control plane, etc.
Direct and manage 3rd party IP providers
Perform lab and field bring-up and debug of designs
Make technical presentations to management on architecture and design trade off decisions.
Requires technical team leadership of design engineering staff in a matrix environment
QUALIFICATIONS - KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS- EXPERIENCE:
B.S. or M.S. in engineering, Ph.D. is a plus.
15+ years of industrial experience in networking hardware development
Extensive FPGA and high speed board level design experience
VERILOG and/or VHDL programming expert
DSP programming experience
Solid understanding of SONET/SDH, OTN, Ethernet, SW defined radio, DSP algorithms
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical demands: Ability to climb ladder up to 20 ft. Lift up to 20lbs.
Flexibility with work hours including weekends to meet requirements( as needed)
