Summary:
The Hyperbaric Technician, under the general supervision of the Hyperbaric Physician and the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager/Program Director, will assume responsibility for the safe and effective operation of the compression chamber system and supporting components. All therapeutic and diagnostic modalities will be ordered by the Hyperbaric Physician
Long Description:
Essential Job Functions:
Performing maintenance activities of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and associated systems and equipment, as directed.
Report safety issues and/or concerns.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of the policies and procedures of Accelecare and Hospital. Chamber operational competency workbook to be completed within 90 days of hire date.
Complete the patient's treatment charges on a daily basis.
Perform data entry into the Clinical Data System and collate reports as requested by the Program Director, Clinical Manager and/or Medical Director.
Ensure that medical records include serial photographs of the wound for reporting of the patient's progress and participate in taking photographs, if so designated.
Perform transcutaneous oxygen monitoring testing as ordered and per departmental policy.
Perform dressing changes and/or wound care, within scope of practice, as ordered, and participate in wound center activities when HBOT volumes allow for such activity.
Perform marketing duties as needed, intra- and interdepartmental.
Qualifications:
Must be credentialed or licensed in the state where working.
Current license, certification, or training is required in one of the following qualifying vocations:
Registered Nurse
Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN)
National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician
Certified Hyperbaric Technologist
Emergency Medical Technician
Diving Medical Technician (DMT)
Military Corpsman
Commercial or Military Diver
Life Support Technician
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in healthcare or the diving industry is required. Wound care, hyperbaric medicine, and/or experience in emergency medicine or acute medical care is preferred.
Specific training and/or experience in compression chamber operations, including a demonstrated knowledge of decompression tables strongly desired.
Ability to physically meet the working conditions required of the job.
Minimum License and Certificates: Certification as a Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) or Hyperbaric Nurse (CHRN) preferred within one year of hire date.
