StumbleUpon is looking for an expert in Big Data Systems! Are you the chosen one?We are looking for a innovative, passionate, technical engineering leader who is an expert in Big Data Analytics and creating Analytics platforms from Scratch. This is a rare opportunity to make a huge impact and to use your expertise to lead a strong analytics team and platform for Stumbleupon.
Your team will be a set of creative and prolific engineers that are helping design and develop technologies that improve discovery and recommendation of the world's websites. You will be responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle and providing technical and managerial guidance to our engineers.
The average team size is 5 or more engineers. You will work in lock step with the product team to get features out the door quickly. To succeed, you must be passionate about StumbleUpon and be able to maintain daily release cycles, while advancing our dynamic culture during times of immense growth. The Head of Analytics will be responsible for StumbleUpon?s Analytics team, providing access to data mining and reporting for the recommendation and research teams, creating company wide KPI's, building a platform collection of analytics data, creating dashboards etc.

Responsibilities:
Build a scalable analytics platform from scratch
Work hand in hand with Recommendation, Research, and Analysts teams to analyze the data
Create KPIs and Dashboards
Manage complex technical projects and a team of software engineers
Willing to roll up their sleeves and code alongside their team
Enjoy providing frequent and constructive feedback
Performing architectural and design reviews
Able to coach and mentor junior and non-junior engineers
Participate in the hiring process
Requirements:
Previous experience as a technical lead or manager
Big Data analytics experience is a must
Experience with Hadoop, Mapreduce, Hive, PIG, Hbase all a big plus
Agile development experience
Command of your favorite modern programming language: PHP, Java, Objective-C, C++, etc
Comfortable working in a Unix environment
Knowledge and passion about StumbleUpon a plus!
Strong academic record
