Head of Biology Catabasis

We are currently looking for a highly motivated, energetic, and relentlessly resourceful individual to join our team as the Head of Biology.
The Head of Biology will lead and manage the Biology Team, a group of 4-5 scientists with expertise in cell biology, cell signaling and assay development, responsible for generating the biochemical and cell biological data required to initiate and advance drug discovery and development programs.
The Head of Biology will report to the Vice President of Research and serve as a leader and key interface between all departments. Responsibilities include:
Management and scientific leadership of the Biology group providing support to both discovery and development activities
Ensure each activity is effectively prioritized and makes appropriate use of internal resources, CROs, and academic / industrial collaborations to deliver optimal results
Lead multiple drug discovery programs from the early drug discovery phase to the beginning of clinical development
Develop the appropriate network of consultants and key opinion leaders to maximize odds of technical and commercial success of programs
Increase the visibility and scientific reputation of Catabasis with external publications and presentations at scientific meetings and conferences.
Provide employee feedback, coaching and development through ongoing performance management

The candidate will have a Ph.D. in biology or a related field, with at least 10 years of post-graduate experience working in industry. The successful candidate will also have:
Deep understanding of cellular and molecular biology across a diverse range of disease biology coupled with extensive experience with biochemical and cell based assay development
Excellent time management skills, with an ability to adapt to rapid changes in projects priorities and meet aggressive timelines
Strong collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively across corporate and academic settings
Project leadership with demonstrated accomplishments in drug discovery
An ability to mentor and coach scientists to promote career development
