Opportunity Overview:
We are in search of a strategic and creative leader at the intersection of eCommerce, SaaS Product Development and Price Optimization to be a key member of an exciting e-commerce start up (www.blacklocus.com). Our mission is to provide our retail customers with unique data and tools to maximize profitability by focusing on how they price their products relative to the competition, then recommending price points based on their parameters and unique insights we determine from our massive dataset. We are well funded and call Austin, TX home. For the right candidate, this will be a simultaneously challenging, exciting, energetic, frustrating, and ultimately rewarding experience in a fun and fast-paced decision making environment.
Role Overview:
As a key member of the management team, this individual will be responsible for all product development and management at BlackLocus, making daily decisions that impact the company?s future.
Balance business needs, end-user needs and technological capabilities into BlackLocus? externally facing features and products.
Drive the definition and design (productization), establish milestones and priorities, and manage the development, implementation and marketing launch of all customer products and features.
Own the organization?s Product Roadmap, ensuring products and enhancements are developed, implemented and launched on time.
Program manage feature development using agile techniques, working directly with the engineering team to ensure the efficient allocation of resources and quick prototyping & iteration.
Communicate product status, key issues and launch plans to key constituents across the BlackLocus organization including senior management as well as engineering, design, sales, PR, editorial and customer support teams and most important, with customers.
Monitor the competitive landscape and position BlackLocus products and features accordingly.
Subscribes to lean startup principles in developing, testing new product enhancements. Carries copy of Eric Ries ?The Lean Startup? in computer bag and uses as a reference manual for how to build product by iterating with customers.
Measure product performance and identification of key levers of improvement - including design and analysis of relevant reports. Proficiency in designing A/B, multi-variate tests.
Actively participates in partner discussions and deal-making process.
Required Skills, Education & Attributes:
Bachelor?s degree in Engineering or Computer Science from a top-tier university. MBA strongly preferred.
Five years of product management experience (boasting exceptional results) at a SaaS-based, B-to-B product offering in eCommerce. Pricing optimization in an online retail environment a strong plus.
Strong understanding of SaaS monetization models and metrics and demonstrated success in building product to improve those metrics.
Ability to dive in and program manage feature and product development with the engineering team, agile development techniques, including prototyping and iteration, are second nature to you.
Superior analytical skills, attention for detail, and exceptional creativity, all at the same time.
You are not afraid to quickly code something up yourself and/or create a mock-up.
You are a natural communicator, not only with the executive team but also with colleagues in the engineering team and customers.
