The Job
Responsibilities
- Prepare materials for furnace operation.
- Operate gas-fired furnaces to heat treat, temper, anneal, and normalize.
- Set up and load oven, move parts, assist with heat treat equipment, maintenance and calibration.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing Development to optimize the capability of the equipment.
- Set and adjust controls for furnace heat cycle and/or furnace temperature.
- Document test sequences and procedures used in processing of parts.
- Understand and work from shop orders, blueprints, documents, specifications, etc.
- Do routine preventative work to maintain equipment.
- Coordinate certification requirements of equipment.
- Report malfunctions of equipment to supervisors or maintenance.
- Load, unload, quench, clean and stack material.
- When necessary, repair and make components of existing tools, dies, jigs, etc.
- Work with Engineers on the development of new processes and materials.
- The candidate will be required to load/unload furnaces, set/monitor furnace settings, set/monitor processing soak time, prepare/fill required documentation, assist with furnace calibrations or surveys and maintain required logs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Three years of Heat Treat experience.
- Ability to read measuring instruments and recorders.
- Basic English reading and math skills mandatory.
- Ability to work safely in a heat treat environment with hot parts.
- Ability to follow written instructions.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in NADCAP/ISO approved heat treat operations.
- Must be detailed oriented and capable to maintain process requirements and process documentation with precision.
- Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift, as needed, and overtime, as required.
- Ability to work on weekends when required.
Preferred skills
- Ability to meet physical requirements of repetitive manual motions, heavy physical work, and standing most of the time.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and moving 40 pound pans with dollies.
