Axiom, a new model professional services firm and a revolution in the legal industry, is seeking a Hiring and Professional Development Manager to help build and manage the attorney community in our New York office.
Reporting to the New York Head of Attorney Development, the Manager will:
Develop effective attorney hiring and performance development strategies
Interview and hire attorneys in specific practice areas
Advise attorneys on their professional development
Manage performance feedback
Establish and maintain strong relationships and continuous communications with Axiom attorneys
Connect with the broader legal community to raise awareness of Axiom?s unique offering
Liaise with other departments including Practice Management, Marketing, Finance and HR

Experience & Qualifications
Strong customer-service orientation
Good ?client hands? and strong EQ for dealing with a portfolio of attorneys
Genuine interest in partnering with attorneys to understand and help achieve their career ambitions
Sound commercial judgment and strong ability to shape and meet client demand
Strong commercial orientation and ability to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities with existing clients
Strong people leadership skills, including ability to deliver performance management feedback
Quantitative acumen, leveraging multiple data points (e.g., client willingness to pay, peer sets, prior compensation) to set and adjust attorney compensation
Comfort managing to a performance metrics related to attrition and utilization of attorney portfolio
Strong relationship and rapport building skills, and ability to build trust-based relationships with both clients and attorneys
Strong advocacy skills, and an ability to "sell" their attorney group to internal and external clients to get them deployed
Ability to assess candidates through interview process and to persuade attorneys to join the firm
Process orientation to assist in setting a cadence for interacting with attorneys and clients
Ability to manage a portfolio of attorney engagements with limited oversight, including managing engagement margins and resolving ongoing issues relating to rates, billing, attorney performance, attorney satisfaction and attrition
High degree of proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (including Excel and PowerPoint)

Education
Bachelor?s degree required
